Technical issues 1.21.03 - Multiplayer

We have 2 accounts under the same organisation, both updated to 1.21.03. Yesterday played together no problem, have now updated and it gives an error message: Can't connect to world.

Hi - we're experiencing similar issues. We've tried rolling back to the prior version and experience a similar issue now also, even with clearing out all related files in the user's Library. The only way we've been able to get it to work is to create a new user, but even then, it will begin to stop working at some stage. We're very keen to get this resolved if possible.

I've found that you may need to click View > Show Hidden Items in Keychain Access to find this key. It is also called PF_Account_6955F_key, not PF_Account_6955F if you are doing this programmatically. I've also found that I needed to remove the AD_EDU_USER_HINT key as well. Doing this along with removing supporting folders in ~/Library/Preferences & ~/Library/Application Support and reinstalling Minecraft Edu seems to fix it for me.

Ahh! Thank you Max for sharing your fix! I will let the team know, very interesting that that the manual deletion of the key helped with your issue. We have tried different fixes related to those exact keys though sharing them with others did yield results we expected.
You are of the few that are reporting fixes for the issue, so I will be sure to spread the good news and help others!

For anyone else needing the details, see below:-OS: MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1
Minecraft Education v1.21.03
Error: Unable to connect to world
1. Uninstalled Minecraft Education
2. Keychain Access > View > Show Invisible Items
I had both PF_Account_6955F and PF_Account_6955F_key. Deleted both entries.
Deleted AD_EDU_USER_HINT entry.
Decided to also delete all com.microsoft.oneauth entries of the same date/time
3. ~/Library/Application Support/com.microsoft.minecraft-edu (delete entire folder)
4. ~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.minecraft-edu.plist (delete this file)
5. Reinstalled Minecraft Education
Sign in, entered join code and it finally connected!1 -
Hi Julian,
Generally anything related to minecraft edu:
- /Users/$loggedInUser/Library/Application Support/minecraftpe
- /Users/$loggedInUser/Library/Application Support/com.microsoft.minecraft-edu
- /Users/$loggedInUser/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.minecraft-edu.plist
- /Users/$loggedInUser/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.minecraft-edu
If you want to keep hold of any worlds that have been created, make sure to backup this folder:
- /Users/$loggedInUser/Library/Application Support/minecraftpe/games/com.mojang/minecraftWorlds
Then just return it to the same spot after launching minecraft education again. If you have any issues you may just need to do a chmod after copying it back.

I am on a Mac device and I have had this multiplayer issue since you started 1.21 I would like this fixed immediately because this has never happened before when ever I join a multi player world its says unable to join world please fix this for me or open ticket or show me how fix this issue Danny I really need help with this multiplayer issue I am now losing time to play minecarft education on my mac and teaching

Sorry to hear you are running into some issues with this error as well! Normally I would make a ticket, however currently while our team is still investigating the cause of this error, Max H and Lynda L from above are having the best luck with the workaround / fix for this issue at this current time.

It's in the menu bar. Keychain Access need to be the focused window, then click View > Show Invisible Items

When you open Keychain Access, look at the very top menu bar to access View > Show Invisible Items
Once enabled, you can search inside Keychain Access for the entries you want to delete.0 -

you can simply just copy and paste the things that are along the line of " ~/Library/Application Support/com.microsoft.minecraft-edu" and stuff like that to your browser im sure thats what i did, specifically im on google chrome i am not sure if it works on other browsers

Hi there, I'm a teacher at another school trying to use Minecraft:Education Edition between Macs and PC's, and having the exact same problem. Also cannot find the PF_Account_6955F information in the keychain. If there is a fix, I am happy to send my email address along so I can be included on any communication with the solution!!

Hello.
I am teaching Minecraft Education to children in an online class in Japan.
This thread is very informative and has saved many Mac users' children.
However, there are still some children who are not solved yet.That child cannot delete any of the following in the keychain access.
- PF_Account_6955F_key
- PF_Account_6955F
- AD_EDU_USER_HINT
- All “com.microsoft.oneauth” entries with the same date/time
Invisible items can also be displayed and appear in the list,
I can confirm that the “Delete” item is also displayed by right-clicking on it.
However, when I click “delete” it does not go away.If there is a possibility, I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

I installed Minecraft EE on my MacBook Pro for my child on the first of July 2024 using the publicly available download. Everything worked fine, although the OS is 11.7.10 (macOS Big Sur). According to https://edusupport.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360047556451-Minecraft-Education-Change-Log it might have been 1.21.01 or 1.20.13.
Unfortunately, since installing 1.21.05, starting the application fails with a misterious error message regarding missing rights - just like in https://edusupport.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/29066176455956 and https://edusupport.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/30059757880468-Error-on-Mac-with-Minecraft-Education-1-21-03.
Following Danny's advice, I ended up here and while Max H's instructions looked promising, I ran into the problem mentioned by kazuki chiyoda. This occured when attempting to delete the entries in the keychain search results. Locating and deleting the items manually using the scroll bar (until the search cannot find them any more) was the solution I found for that step.
However, even after deleting all minecraft-related subfolders in my users' Library folders and reinstalling Minecraft EE, I end up with the same error message as before.
I would love to revert to 1.21.01 or older, but I could only find Mac download sources for 1.21.04 beta and 1.21.05, which both do not start.

kazuki chiyoda Hiii! Wow your from JAPAN! I have a similar issue however i solved it! Make sure when your deleting it your on the "all items" and not "passwords". Also whatever your deleting make sure to start from the bottom. NOTE: sometimes it just glitches so keep trying again from the bottom or random orders which worked for me. After you delete all the files required, re-install minecraft edu and it will work!! Let me know if it worked

I had the same problem of not being able to go into others' worlds or others not being able to go into my world when I am using a Mac. I deleted everything on keychain access about Minecraft Edu, and also on application support. I did backed up my worlds and skin packs folders and put them back in place after re-installing Minecraft edu. And it worked! Thanks!

I'm just a student that ran into the same problem [and actually tried to fix it instead of being lazy like normal me lol], and I managed to pierce everything (sort of, from similar issue posts) together. These steps have helped me with being able to connect again on Mac. Very sorry if my expressing skills aren't that good, English ain't my first language. And also sorry x100 if it doesn't work for you.
1. Uninstall Minecraft Edu
--Below are deleting Keychain Access entries steps--
2. Open up Keychain Access app and go into all items (You can use Spotlight Search to find the app)
3. With Keychain as focus app, click on top left "view" and "show invisible items"
4. Now in all items you should be able to find PF_Account_6955F, PF_Account_6955F_key, AD_EDU_USER_HINT entry.
5. If you find any of these three, right click on them and delete
[It would also be safer just in case that you also delete all "com.microsoft.oneauth” entries with same date/time]
--Below are folders deleting steps--
If you re-install Minecraft Edu after the above and still can't do mutliplayer, try these (You need to try delete everything related to it):
6. Open up the "Finder" app
7. "Finder" as the focused app, there will be a button named "Go" on the top left bar, click
8. While all the options show underneath the "Go", hold down "option" key on your keyboard (HOLD DOWN ALL TIME)
9. As you hold down "option", the "Library" button will appear underneath the "Home" button, click10. Now you should be able to get access into the Library folder
11. Find in Library: Application Support/minecraftpe
[If you want to keep your worlds, just in minecraftpe/games/com.mojang/, drag out the folder minecraftWorlds, you can put it on your desktop for later]
12. Delete whole folder of minecraftpe
13. Now that you're in library, delete also:
~/Library/Application Support/com.microsoft.minecraft-edu (entire folder)
~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.minecraft-edu.plist14. Find anything related to Minecraft Edu and delete
That's all I've learnt from all these issue posts... And hope it may help you in any ways. And good luck!!! :3

Mas se eu usar um computador da lenovo, com windows, e não estiver funcionando para entrar em um mundo de outra pessoa. No caso, eu já tentei reinstalar o minecraft nos dois dispositivos, reiniciar os dois computadores, sair e entrar nas duas contas, usar uma mesma rede de internet, e mais um monte de coisas e nada funcionou. Isso sem falar em que tentei conectar pelo id do mundo, e não deu.

Tried every single "solution" in this thread for one of our student, nothing worked
I'm pretty sure Minecraft team messed something up in the 1.21 release for mac and we're having to scrabble to repair it

thanks for the reply, I mean, not sure how much that would do because as I said, it's one of our student that has that issue (I was part of the team working on IT help, that's why I came to talk about it here, because it was "my case" in a way) so I wouldn't be able to send logs, or videos as you ask.
The student can't make a ticket either, (we're a french group, using MCEdu as a tool to teach kids coding in after school classes), they don't speak english that wellI can describe more in detail myself, all we tried for resolution (everything in this thread + a few things found elsewhere on the web), and what happened that led to the problem exactly as it happened during the IT help session, but that's it, and I dunno how much help that would be?
