Minecraft Education v1.21.133 Crashing on iPad (9th Gen) During Sign-in, Loading Large Worlds, and Using Commands
Dear Minecraft Support Team,
I am writing to report a recurring crash issue we are experiencing with Minecraft Education (Version 1.21.133) in our classroom, where we use a large number of iPads for our lessons. We have confirmed that this issue occurs consistently on this latest version of the app.
Here are the details of the problem:
-
Device: iPad (9th generation)
-
OS Version: OS 26.4.2 and 26.5
-
App Version: Minecraft Education 1.21.133 (Latest)
-
Symptoms:
-
The app crashes during the sign-in process, preventing users from logging in.
-
When attempting to open a large world file (around 200MB), the app crashes halfway through the loading screen.
-
Even if the world opens successfully, the app frequently crashes either when attempting to type a command or right after a command is entered, making it impossible to proceed with the lesson.
-
Interestingly, we tested the exact same world file using the same app version (1.21.133) on an iPad (10th generation) running OS 26.5, and it ran smoothly without any crashes.
Does your team have any known issues or information regarding this situation? We would highly appreciate it if you could let us know if this is likely due to insufficient hardware specifications of the 9th gen iPad, or if there are any other potential causes or workarounds.
Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
-
Hey there!
Sorry to hear you are running into some issues with iPad crashing. If these look like your system specs: https://support.apple.com/en-us/111898, they should be mostly in line with our system requirements:

Just had a few questions to help us support you further:
1 - Do you have any issues on other devices like Windows or Mac?
2 - How many students is this affecting?
3 - If I create a support ticket for us, would you be willing to share a video reproduction of the issue with us there?

Hi Danny!
Our support team has provided an update on the situation, so I am writing to follow up.
2. Regarding the number of affected students:We have received inquiries from at least 4 classrooms (affecting approximately 20 or more students). While it is highly possible that this is happening in other classrooms as well, we have just issued a notice to all of our classrooms regarding this matter. Therefore, the actual impact could be much larger, potentially affecting a greater number of classrooms and students.
