Follow the steps outlined below to seamlessly cancel your subscription and/or disable automatic renewal. We also have a video here that can assist in this process:
Step 1: Unassign all licenses
In order to request a refund, you must first unassign all licenses for Minecraft Education from users.
- Go to the Users > Active users page in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- Select all users
- In the toolbar select "Manage Product Licenses"
- Select unassign all and save changes.
Step 2: Cancel Subscription
- If you're using the Simplified view, select Subscriptions.
- If you're using the Dashboard view, go to the Billing > Your products.
- Select the subscription that you want to cancel.
- On the subscription details page, in the Billing settings section, under Subscription status, select Cancel subscription.
- Many users will be eligible for a partial prorated refund. This would be a partial credit for your unused month being returned to your original payment method within 30 days.
- For example, if you cancel 2 months into your 12-month subscription, you would be refunded 80% of your subscription cost (10 months).
- You can learn more about Microsoft's refund policy here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/commerce/subscriptions/cancel-your-subscription?view=o365-worldwide
- In some cases, this will just mean turning off auto-renew.
- For some users, you can only turn off recurring billing. In the Canceling your subscription pane, review the information about how canceling works for your subscription, then select edit the recurring billing settings.
