We were getting the same error message. We downloaded the Windows Desktop version and it fixed the problem, assuming you're on Windows machine.  https://education.minecraft.net/get-started/download

I am having the same issue. Have been downloading the Desktop version and it's working on all but 2 of our laptops. I've even uninstalled and tried again. Not sure what else to try.
