Still cannot use Multiplayer patch 1.18.32
We have updated all the URLS as per this page https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360047118992-FAQ-IT-Admin-Guide-
including world.relay.skype.com and turn.azure.com
We were able to get some pc's to join others yesterday but now they have now all stopped being able to do so. We implemented the new URL's etc. still no result.
This makes Minecraft EDU moot in our school as being able to share and join worlds is fundamental to how we use the game.
This happens for new users and existing users, we have no actual login issues. We use a local active directory and we sync that to azure active directory.
Any help greatly appreciated at this point. We have great IT's working to figure out what to do next.

YES THIS! Why is this not a 'known issue' - it's a MASSIVE issue! Needs to be front page - zero response to it being any kind of issue from the PlayCraftLearn Twitter either. Come on Minecraft EDU - you have a significant issue here affecting thousansds of schools - we all pay for those Azure licenses and we want to be able to play reliably together.
FIX when???? and why is it not a KNOWN ISSUE???

Hi all,
I completely understand that the Devs are working in it but its becoming extremely disruptive and as its not working at all for users in Proxy Environments/Environments with Enterprise Firewalls its becoming frustrating for us as students are unable to utilize a core function of Minecraft Education.
Is it possible to push for even a slight update of progressions on resolving the issue? At the moment we have to report back to users that its being worked on but saying the same thing for weeks now can end up the users getting frustrated with IT Admins. Even announcing an known issue would be a better way for us to communicate with Staff? As i can see multiple community support staff requesting users to whitelist the https://minecraft-services.net URL but of course this workaround is not working as multiple users have stated around the globe.0 -
Offering a roll back can cause issues down the road. If the issue is not worked on and users were to roll back their clients, then the underlying issue does not get resolved. The issue could be our client build or something with the school's infrastructure and once that older client build is no longer supported the issue will return for the users in a potentially bigger way.
I don't think people were planning to stay on the roll back version permanently, just until there is a fix or work around for the issues that are causing customers to be unable to use the product they are paying for.
OR, Get us a dedicated server software that everyone can connect to despite the adhoc connections not working.0 -

It's now been 1 month since i originated this post and there have been zero fixes implemented - just a lot of 'sorry folks, we are working on it'. (Not the fault of any of the Admins here of course}, but clearly this is NOT a priority for Microsoft/Minecraft EDU. Nothing takes this long to sort out. It's beginning to look to me that those of us with issues are just out of luck at this point. whatever change they made, they are not willing to address what they broke in the process. I've no idea as to how many this is affecting - it may be such a small number that they simply don't care if they lose us. They still have not added it to 'known issues' so it's just being glossed over. At least this thread still exists.....for the moment! :)
This was an intentional change on their part for whatever reason - it was not thought through and they appear completely unwilling to address it in any capacity other than forum admin apologies and empty promises that 'they are working on it'.
Incredibly disappointing. Java here i come.

We are currently working on a new method for our known issues page. Once that page is created this plus all other known issues with the current update will be posted on one page. I am sorry for the frustration, and I understand.

Just a message to say that you aren't alone in your frustration. I'm also out of energy when it comes to dealing with Microsoft on issues relating to Minecraft: Education Edition. After 5 years I've had to stop using it completely following this latest update. Perhaps MS should give the software back to TeacherGaming.

From our iPad and Windows 10 machines some drop connection to host while others are more stable. The devices are standardised which really puzzles me. Sometimes a restart helps.
The least number of disconnections occurs when the host is placed in the DMZ at the router. Beware, this is a security risk and not advised!
Once again, since the new update, the multiplayer for collaborative teaching is unusable. There are constant disconnections or connections that cannot be established. On some devices it works, on others not. One can host, the other cannot. It seems like the early days of gaming when we friends would connect our PCs on a LAN and then try to play Baldur's Gate on a peer to peer network. It was so buggy, the weekend was ruined. Now Minecraft courses in schools are failing again. The problems are well known. Solutions have long been available technically. Even the simplest games get a functional multiplayer these days. I don't even want to dream about dedicated servers. Microsoft developed the Azure Cloud, but only give MC:EE peer to peer networking. Honestly Microsoft, why are you doing this? Why did you buy the Minecraft game license from Mojang, the best game in the world, for billions of $ and then you only put a handful of developers on this education project? Aren't all the schools in the world worth it?
Do these managers actually know what it means to build classes on MC:EE only to find that the connection doesn't work? Mistakes I've already experienced in 2018 with this product, by now it's the fourth year and NONE has improved with the multiplayer. Peer to peer is so wrong for doing eSports. Why aren't the problems with the consumer version, Bedrock? I pay a lot of money every year for the MC:EE licenses, and every year the same bitter taste of installing the next update. They deliver really good education content, I love the library in MCEE. But how is collaborative play supposed to work if the connection keeps dropping out? Peer to peer is totally vulnerable, a stupid decision to do such a design for a school. Why do we have to whitelist dozens of URLs, you don't have to do that with any other game. If this goes on, I'll leave the projects and stop teaching with Minecraft. Who will pay me for the messed up hours of teaching and constant troubleshooting?
Owning the best educational game in the world is also a responsibility to the people. Microsoft now had a few years to make something of it and they are one of the richest companies in the world, with all the options. Actually, it's so embarrassing. If Microsoft doesn't get it right, then at least the should give the licence back. Every small developer studio would manage to create a dedicated server operation. With a few people. Look at games like Valheim or Divinity. That's how multiplayer works.
I want to finally walk into the classroom not with the uncertainty that everything is going to go wrong again and I need a plan B, and that we can concentrate on teaching instead of having to solve connection problems.

Incredibly well put Christoph - I too want to walk into my classroom and focus on my students and their learning experiences and not spend 50% of my classtime troubleshooting peer to peer connection issues, something completely antiquated in the modern multiplayer environment.
This is Minecraft Education Edition - Mutliplayer is the bedrock (pun intended) of teaching with Mc Edu in the classroom. If multiaplyer does not function reliably - THERE IS LITERALLY NO POINT IN USING THIS GAME TO EDUCATE - You can build all the wonderful lessons imaginable but if we cannot play them together right now, it's a total waste of time. The complete silence on this issue from @playcraftlearn is also deafening. They continue to Tweet away about all the excellant new colabs from around the world. Fantastic, wish we could actually play them together.
Danny - I feel for you - no need to apologize - it's not your problem. Just kick it up for us please. Does this actually even get any dev eyes on it?

It does, we are working with the Devs to try and communicate more with the community to provide updates to everyone affected in a better fashion. That process is still being worked on, but the Devs are informed of everything we find here so they can see how big of an impact this is having on customers. But as the support team we are sorry for not being able to provide more information to help everyone.

If you go to the beta 1.18.10.04 version the multiplayer on Minecraft still works, but we have the problem where Minecraft uninstalls itself and updates so that we have to install it again.

I was on a Minecraft Educator teams meeting the other week where we were told this issue is known and being worked on. This fix is really crucial. Yes - children can learn solo in their own worlds - but it is the interactivity with their friends that really sparks their imagination. I would have thought that there would be a temporary rollback option to the rock solid 1.17 release until the issues plaguing 1.18 were sorted (We are also having problems on our new chromebooks with the black screen issue https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/9891000068628-Minecraft-Chromebook-app-hangs-black-screen ). I would quite happily forgo Minecraft EE on my phone to get it working properly on the school chromebooks. I hope that when this is sorted we get some kind of assurance that future releases will be properly tested before being unleashed on schools. We can't operate as Beta testers - kids only have 1 go in being a grade 2, grade 3 etc.

Great news, Danny! We ll try the patch next week in the classrooms with our ipads, W10 laptops, macbooks and chromebooks joining multiple hosts. Results shared end of next week. Looks promising!!

Hum. One computer seems to have lost MCEE instead of updating it. Downloading the install file again to that PC.
Ok That computer updated. It was weird though.

Ok - i've done a preliminary test on 2 chromebooks and a pc on 1.18.42 - and yes - no problems observed! Well done guys. I'll let you know after a class tomorrow whether we are fully operational but so far so good. Thank you and thank the team. (I still have the hanging black screen on my newer chromebooks though...... ;-( )

Can you let me know what is occurring on that PC? Is it just crashing when you open it? Does that PC differ from the others in any way that you see?

Sorry I didn't get back with an update about my update to 1.18.42. The one PC I said that minecraft disappeared from the desktop. I simply downloaded the new version and installed and it was ok.
I my PC it wouldn't open so I uninstalled and then downloaded and installed the new version.
Seems to be working on the 4 PCs here and on an android phone.
I don't think I've had any students on Chrome books manage to connect multiplayer yet. I don't own a chrome book to test myself. I'm not sure if either of my Ipad students have connected or even tried to connect to the multiplayer worlds since the update.
At least two of my remote students have connected since the update but they both use PCs.0
