At this time, we are working with Google and have been asked that for customers experiencing this issue to file a report with Google by pressing alt+shift+i , filling out the info requested, include the #minecraftedu tag in your report. We will continue to post updates on this thread in the future. Thank you all for your time.

At this time there is no workaround or solution we can provide customers. A bug report has been generated and sent to the Dev team to resolve. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Same problem. We pay for Minecraft per year and it seems like this update made the game unable to play for our students for going on a month now, let alone multiplayer. I hope this is priority because every weeks class they are having to do something else and the lesson plan is slowly veering into chaos.

Hey Jesse,
Really sorry to hear. As Dominick said, the team is aware and are working towards a solution.
I'll create a ticket for us since we will need some more info to troubleshoot further.
See you over there!

Wanted to add we're having the same issues on two of our three chromebooks running MEE 1.18.32. It freezes at or just after the Mojang loading screen. Both are running Chrome OS 103.0.5060.132
Is there a way to downgrade to 1.17 in the meantime?
Thanks

We are currently not deploying a downgrade at this time but that may change in the future. As for your issue we have seen that users having issues connecting with Chromebooks may need to add more URLs depending on the firewall in place and the school's traffic. We highly recommend using a HTTPS scan or packet scan software to see what might be getting blocked. We use fiddler but any tool that will let you analyze your traffic will work. Then un-block/allow list whatever you find in the scan. Hope that helps.

But - in my school - some chromebooks work and don't get the black screen - and some do. On the same network. So how can that be a network issue?

I have also experienced this issue on chrome 91 so i am starting to think its a issue with the app instead.

possibly just bad included libraries. I would like to help fix this bug but I don't have proper access to the code 🤷

The blackscreen issue is related to the Chromes OS and the graphics code on the backend for the game. We are working with Google to resolve this issue. Try rolling your OS version to an earlier state and see if that helps.

I have indeed rolled back chrome v91 and the issue persists. I know this version used to work. I hope this helps.

Google and the Dev team are still working on the graphics code. Thank you for trying that roll back. We did release a new Beta today and if you are willing, grab a test device and see if the Beta changes the issue at all.

We have a Lenovo Duet Chromebook - it will load Minecraft but it will freeze at the Mojang logo or go to a black screen. The kids are sad to hear that mom can't fix it. LOL. I did report it to Google as requested above.

Our students are having this issue on various Chromebook models.

I just signed up for the beta, I will make an update comment to let you guys know if it works or not.

Unfortunately, the beta does not work and I receive the same blank screen as before.

Is this still the post to check? Are we any closer to seeing a resolution? Thanks for any effort being put forth.

This is the post to check and at this time the fix is to make sure your device OS build is the newest one, the client version is 1.18.45, and that there are no network filters running. If there are network filters running, make sure all URLs are allow listed and communication is not getting blocked.
