For those running into the issue of Minecraft: Education Edition closing after opening that are on Windows please proceed with the following steps:
- Uninstall all versions of Minecraft: Education Edition you have on your device( and back up any worlds)
- Visit https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download
- Scroll down to the part it says "Windows users can also download from the Windows Store." and click on the underlined text
- Download from the Windows Store
- This has been successful for quite a few users, and shoutout to Anna Acosta for discovering this workaround.

Hey there!
Sorry to hear, I recommend restarting your device after updating. Let us know how that goes!

Danny's advice is good! Another problem I have run into is that shortcuts become messed up sometimes. I suggest deleting the shortcut if Danny's suggestion doesn't work, and creating a new shortcut.
(search for the app and right click to create a new shortcut)

Hi Debbie, I have the same issue and i tried the suggestions that Danny and you made, but it's not working. I tried reinstalling the game and repairing the game, neither of those worked.
I have Windows 10
AMD Ryzen 3200g with Vega 8 graphics
16gb Ram
and a ssd.
help me please, thanks0 -
I did both of those things, and it didn't work

I'm sorry to hear you are having the issue as well. Did you try some potential fixes that were mentioned above? Can you let me know what device you are using? Is this a school device or a personal one? Check with the person you are trying to join and see if they are on the same client version and have them try hosting from a different network. The network they are using might be restricted preventing that communication.

I'm having the same issue, and nothing seems to work.
Im running a Dell Inspiron 7000 with windows 11 OS

I was able to open it yesterday but I got the issue today. I got some windows 11 updates that I had to run. Not sure if that can be a lead on the problem.
I'm using my personal computer and already try to "repair" on the un-install menu. That didn't fix it either. Also, downloaded the newest version and reinstall it but still the same error happened.Just a flash and stop. I couldn't find an error or a process that stopped.

Hi everyone, i could fix the problem by uninstalling the current version and installing the new one via Microsoft Store, i had a login error but it was because i had 2 version of minecraft installed at the same time.
Here is the link https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download
scroll down to the part it says "Windows users can also download from the Windows Store." and click on the underlined text.1 -

Great job, Anna Acosta ! Good job troubleshooting. Can we learn your method? Did you check add/remove programs to take MC:EE off of the computer, or did you have to navigate to the folder location and remove folders in addition? We have had more of this problem (two installs) in the last year, it seems to me.
Thanks again, and glad to have all of you in the community.
