Multiplayer hosting stopped + join code shows X X X X for over 3 months on MacBook (even after clean reinstall)
Hi,
I’ve had this problem for more than 3 months on my personal MacBook (not school-managed).
When I try to host a world, I get the message: “There was a problem and multiplayer hosting has stopped.” The join code only shows as X X X X instead of a real code.
I am using version v1.21.133.
Things I have already tried:
- Restarting the Mac and the game many times
- Enabling “Local Network” permission in macOS Privacy & Security
- Turning off the macOS Firewall to test
- Signing completely out of my Microsoft account and back in
- Full clean uninstall + reinstall of Minecraft Education (deleted all leftover folders)
It still happens even when I’m at home on my own Wi-Fi with no VPN.
This has been going on for a very long time and nothing I do fixes it. Can someone please check my account or help fix the hosting/join code service?
Thank you!

Hey there!
Sorry to hear you are running into some issues with this error. Thank you for sharing all that you tried, and it is quite the list! I will check with my team on this.
Do you know any others running into this issue?
Who are you trying to host for, are there other licenses on your domain?
