Unable to sign in - just spinning

After clicking sign-in, I just get a white screen with a spinning icon in the middle. This is happening for a number of students as well. We are on Chromebooks. A few were able to login, but the majority were not. 

I have tried:

-clearing browser cache and cookies

-different network

-different devices

-updated Chrome, restart Chromebook
