    Hey there!

Sorry to hear you are running into some issues with this. This is a recorded bug that more and more people are reporting and we have a bug report filed for.

Here are a few things to try:

In the meantime you can have them make sure that all users are on the latest version of Minecraft Education. If you are on Android/Chromebook devices, you can turn off "Automatic DNS" in your Private DNS settings. Let us know how things go!

Hey there! Sorry you are running into these issues too.

Can you confirm all users trying to connect to eachother are on the same and latest version of Minecraft Education?

I have the same issue. All my students are using the updated version. Is it a temporary bug?

    Hey Marre,

Some devices seem to update at different times and some may not, based on how your IT admin has configured updates. It will be worth checking the version number at the bottom right corner of all the devices joining multiplayer to ensure they are the same and latest. That has fixed this issue for many of our customers. If they are all absolutely on the same version, review your Private DNS settings and Turn off Automatic DNS. That step has fixed it for one of our users. Your IT admin will be able to help you if you are stuck with these steps. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for the patience!

Hi, I'm a parent with a few classmates who use Education at work and, can access their accounts on the iPad. They've joined each other's worlds many times in the past, but in the past few weeks have run into this issue yet no device or network settings have changed. It would be great to know if and when the reported bug is in fact fixed!

    Hey there Brian!

Sorry to hear you are running into some issues with multiplayer with Minecraft Education.

Are all users that are trying to connect to one another on the same and most updated version of Minecraft Education?

We have seen the "Invalid Tenant ID" error be solved for users when they double check the versions of all devices are the same. That is the error you all get right?  Sometimes some devices like to update at different times than others which can cause issues. Let us know!

Same here. My school's computers are not synced, with some running on 1.21.96, while others are on 1.21.121. This has caused our social studies ancient civilisation project to be delayed. I wonder if there could be a cross-compatibility feature where minor versions are compatible with each other. Same for worlds. When I loaded the world in 1.21.121, I couldn't load it in 1.21.96. This is probably a feature, but just in case you all could tweak the code... thanks!

    Hey there,
Thanks for the feedback! We've forwarded this feedback over and will hopefully have a more clear error in future versions. We also do generally allow a small tolerance in playing across minor versions, but because of the major multiplayer changes (to allow Dedicated Server) that wasn't possible with this build.

For now, our recommendation is to ensure all host and clients are running the latest version.

I very much appreciate the quick response!  All kids involved are on the iPad version of Minecraft logging in with their school accounts and have successfully played together for a number of months. Next time we try this we'll take a look at iPad versions of MC Education.
