Join Code Displays ‘XXXX’ When Hosting on macOS Tahoe – Anyone Else Experiencing This
Issue Summary: When a student using a Mac creates and hosts a game, the join code displays as “XXXX,” and no one can connect to that student’s game.
Additionally, I’ve experienced issues where the laptop cannot access the Biomes Library.
Error Message: Starter World
“We are unable to connect to the library. This can happen if your computer is offline or if access to the library catalog is blocked.”
Troubleshooting Steps Taken:
- All devices tested are on the same network range and SSID.
- Tested on an open network with the same results.
- Devices that fail do not have VPN installed.
- Ports 80, 443, 19232, and 19133 are open.
- Removed and rejoined the network.
- Disabled Private Wi-Fi Address and Limit IP Address Tracking.
- Removed Minecraft Keychain access token.
Devices Tested:
- Device 1: macOS Tahoe 26.1 – Cannot host or join games. All updates applied.
- Device 2: macOS Sequoia 15.6.1 – Works for hosting and joining. All updates applied (Minecraft v1.21.93).
- Device 3: Windows 11 – Works for hosting and joining.
Question: Has anyone experienced connection issues with macOS Tahoe 26.1?

Hey there!
Sorry to hear you are running into some issues with this X X X X error. There have been more reports on this issue lately, but on varying devices not just limited to MacOS Tahoe 26.1. Interesting things are working for you on the other OS's!
If I make a ticket for us, would you be willing to gather a Fiddler network trace so we could learn more? I can send you instructions in the ticket. Let us know!

Good morning, thank you for your reply.
Students have finished for the year, so I’m unable to use the devices I was testing earlier. However, I’ll use one of our older machines to continue testing.
Yes, please go ahead and create a ticket—I’d like to get this resolved.
Kind regards,

Hey there Vihan,
Sorry to hear you are running into some issues with this error as well. Just had a few questions to help us support you further:
1.) Have things worked previously for you?
2.) Are you on the latest version of Minecraft Education?
3.) Is this a home network or school network?
4.) Is this a commercial account or school managed account? Do you know others with this issue?

Hi all, Currently All students are away on School Holidays, so I don't have the device to look at anymore. As the few that were having issues were BYOD devices.
I will investigate this issue when they return
