Regarding the Increase in License Fees
Hello,I run a classroom and hold over 5,000 licenses.
I would like to know specifically how the price increase for licenses will be implemented.
- Will all the licenses we hold increase in price at once at the time of our renewal in March 2026?
- Or will the price increase be prorated from September 1st onwards
For example, a prorated price of $12 from March to August, and a prorated price of $36 from September to the following March?
I want to confirm whether the price of the annual licenses we have already purchased will change. Thank you!

Hey there!
So first off the price change only affects commercial licensing, more on that here - https://edusupport.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/38684236168980-FAQ-Commercial-License-Changes Just wanted to clarify in case you had academic licenses.
Secondly, the price change occurs September 2nd, 2025, but if your renewal time is after that then the price change will start for you on your next renewal time. Let me know if that makes sense!

Hi Danny!
Our company has a commercial license, and it seems to apply to updates after September 2nd.
Thank you for your response!0 -

Hi Danny!
Thank you!
Is my understanding correct that the price increase will only occur at the time of renewal, but additional purchases can still be made now?
Currently, we hold 6,000 licenses for Minecraft Education for Commercial, and when I tried to purchase an additional 100, I received the message, "There was a problem submitting your request. Please try again or contact support (E6118)."
According to Microsoft Support, it seems that your recent purchase does not meet the criteria set by Microsoft M365 purchase policy.
In accordance with the updated M365 purchase policy guidelines, customers are required to complete two or more separate purchases each totaling less than $30,000.Since this is an additional purchase of 100 licenses, I don't think it falls under the more than $30,000 category, but if it's based on the total license amount, it might be applicable.
I am currently inquiring with Microsoft Support for details. If you know anything about this, please let me know!0 -
Hey there!
Sure!
So, the price increase will occur on your personal next renewal time if it is after September 4th, however additional purchases for Minecraft Education Commercial are also still not obtainable at this time. September 4th will be when purchasing will be possible again, after that you should not receive the error you are receiving.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for the patience!

Hi Danny,
Thanks for your reply.
As you suggested, I tried making the purchase at 1:00 AM U.S. time on September 4, but unfortunately, I still encountered an error and couldn’t complete the purchase.
Do you think there might be any other possible causes?
I’d really appreciate your thoughts on this!0 -
Hey there!
I think it wasn't quite live when you tried to purchase, it should be now though! Also, what domain are you purchasing for?
Let me know if you are running into issues still, and if you are please do send a screenshot of the error you are getting!

Hi Danny,
Thanks for your reply.
Regarding the domain, I'm sorry, but I'm not sure if this is correct, but here it is:[REDACTED]
I apologize for writing in Japanese, but I have also attached an image!
I believe the error message is the same as last time. Please check!
Error: “There was a problem submitting your request. Please try again or contact support (E6118).”

Hey Rei,
Thanks for the info! I've redacted your domain for your privacy.
I think this is going to require a deeper dive, so I'd like to open up a ticket with you and see what we can find out!
I'll see you over there!0
