No ability to see student created skins?
The latest 1.21.10 update appears to have removed the toggle in the General settings to allow students to see each other's custom skins.
This is causing a MAJOR issue with our English storytelling activities because students were using custom skins to create their own characters to create comics and short films.
1.21.06 still has the toggle, and the Education Preview build 1.21.80.1 I have installed still has the toggle.
The decision to remove the toggle is INFURIATING! There is no justification for removing an option in order to stop such an important aspect of Minecraft Education, enabling and empowering creativity and self expression.
I'm sitting here fuming and utterly disgusted at how our English final assignment is now DEAD because of this restriction and we cannot role back to 1.21.06.
The ability for students to create and import their own custom skins is a major part of our integration of Minecraft Education into lesson projects, and with it gone, so is a significant chunk of our ability to create literacy linked self-expression. I'm extremely angry at this decision to remove the toggle, along with how the option is just REMOVED without any consideration of current teaching and learning.
Minecraft Education NEEDS to have the ability to role back to previous versions so that these kinds of changes don't suddenly destroy projects mid-production.

Hey there!
So sorry for the frustration! We totally understand. There were issues preventing it from meeting the expectation of what users want the toggle to do, so we removed it so we can refine and improve the experience to a place we all will be happy with the functionality.
That being said, from what I understand the default setting without the toggle should be to show the skins. We do have users reporting that they can no longer see the skins however, so the more information about this issue the better so we can fully understand what is going on here.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for the patience on this!

the default without the toggle is to prevent custom skins from being shown so the dev team has done the opposite of what you're saying was intentioned.
Please don't thank me for my patience when the app is now broken, we're unable to roll back to the previous version and now our English projects are dead in the water. I'm not patient at all. I'm angry and the way this change has been made and how it's affected my teaching and my student's learning.

Hey there,
Gosh, we totally understand the frustration around all this, really.
And yes that is where the confusion lies, as it does seem to be the outcome does seem to be the somewhat opposite of the expected outcome.
Do the non-Custom skins work at all either? Like the 100 or so built in skins in Minecraft Education available to use, or does everyone just appear as Steve and Alex no matter what?

So if you had the toggle set to allow custom skins on a previous version it still allows them. You can also still see custom skins locally, but on a MP map you don't see the custom skins that other players have on. So basically it's just causing an issue for me on new installs. I reckon I could get around it by various approaches on Windows, either by changing the options.txt myself or by installing an old version, set the toggle off and then install the new version. On Android tablets (I assume ipad too) though it's impossible to get them on if it's a new install (updates on Android and iOS also still show the skins if you you had it set to show them previously).
