MakeCode CodeBuilder Tutorial Not Opening
In our classroom, we provide world data using MakeCode's CodeBuilder across multiple OS (iPad OS, Mac OS, Windows OS) and various app versions (1.19~1.21).
Since the beginning of April, we have received many inquiries related to MakeCode, so we are reaching out to you.
In our teaching materials, we offer multiple lessons, and each lesson is designed to display the corresponding tutorial on CodeBuilder when the C key is pressed.
However, in this inquiry, when MakeCode is opened with the C key, instead of displaying the tutorial screen, a yellow error message stating "Please check your internet connection and check the tutorial is valid." appears, and the tutorial does not display correctly, or the C key press results in a prolonged loading screen. This issue seems to occur regardless of the OS.
We are currently checking the Minecraft version, but in the meantime, we tested it on our curriculum development team's PCs (Mac OS) and found the following results:
v1.19.52 → Tried on about 3 machines, but the tutorial did not open.
v1.20.13 → Tried on about 3 machines, and the tutorial sometimes opened and sometimes did not.
v1.21.06 → Tried on about 5 machines, and the tutorial sometimes opened and sometimes did not.
What we would like to know is whether updating the older versions to v1.21 or later will resolve this issue.
We understand that older versions of Minecraft are no longer supported, so we would appreciate any information on whether this issue was addressed when updating from 1.20 or 1.19 to 1.21.
Thank you!

Hey there!
Sorry to hear you are running into some issues with Codebuilder!
Hmm, first I am hearing of this relatively specific issue with the C key and a yellow error message.
If you would like, I can make ticket for us and if you could send us a video over there of you reproducing the error this would help a lot in understanding it as I don't believe there are other reports of this at this time.
Let us know!

Hi there!
Sorry, I don't have a video, but I have attached an image.
There were no particular issues with the network, and other applications and websites that use the internet were working fine.
The agent reload screen appears, and after the Codebuilder coding screen is displayed once, it switches to the screen in this image after a few seconds.
Also, the peak of this phenomenon occurred at the beginning of April last week, but it seems to have settled down now.
I hope this helps in investigating the cause of the issue.

Hey there!
Thanks for the screenshot and info.
Does your issue replicate on other networks? How many users is it affecting currently since it settled down?

Hi Danny!
I'm sorry for not replying sooner.
This issue occurred when trying multiple networks.
It happened with at least 10 different accounts around the time I posted recently.
Have there been any similar technical issues reported lately?
In older versions prior to 1.21, there seem to be problems with network connections in the code builder.
Could you share any insights from the support team's current investigation and measures being taken?0 -
Hey there!
No problem! Thanks for sharing that additional info.
How about uninstalling and reinstalling, were you able to backup any worlds you want to keep uninstall Minecraft Education, and reinstall from here? -https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download
Let us know how that goes! Also what proxies, content filters, virus protection and, firewalls are on the device level? This is the only report of this issue at this time.
It could also be worth reaching out to your IT admin to see if they can check if there are any of these MakeCode specific URLs for your admin to test against. More info on that here -https://edusupport.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360047118992-FAQ-IT-Admin-Guide
