"There was an error generating your join code"

Can't create "join code" for Minecraft EDU. Have rebooted laptop. Just installed Minecraft a week ago. As the teacher my students are are in the same classroom as I am. We are all on the same wifi network.

The problem for now is just generating the code regardless of other players.

  Sorry to hear that your client is not generating a join code. Try to stop hosting and then host again. If this does't work you should get help from the staff team.

  Hey there!

  Sorry to hear Minecraft Education is not generating join codes, does it show as a bunch of X's instead?

  Are you able to connect via Connection ID instead or does that give issues as well?
