  Sorry to hear you are running into some issues since the new update.

  Just had a few questions to help us support you further:

  1.) What OS version are you on when you got this error?

  2.) What happens when you try to update?

  3.) Is this a home network or school network?

  4.) Is this a commercial account or school managed account?

  It doesn’t update automatically. You need to go to the Minecraft Education website, re-download the macOS version, and copy the new app to your Applications folder. It will ask if you want to replace the old one, just say Replace. It won’t change your saved game data which is stored elsewhere.
