Worlds deleted when uninstalled and reinstalled new version
HELP!! My students have been working on a class project building their Super School and had made so much progress. Today we had an issue with students connecting and saw that there is a new version which did not auto update. We uninstalled and then reinstalled the current version but when I logged in my two classe;s worlds' were gone!! 😬☹️
We checked all the computer files for the worlds', but they were nowhere to be found. Is this normal? We did not think that just uninstalling would remove worlds. Does anyone know of a way that we can get them back? My Year 5 students are going to be absolutely devo when I tell them they have to start again 😭😖

Hey there,
Oh no! So sorry to hear!
Unfortunately, yes this is normal. The uninstalling process removes the Minecraft Education files from the device along with the Minecraft Education program itself.
What device was this on?
We recommend to https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360047555391-Import-Export-and-Manage-Worlds- export worlds when you can to avoid data loss. Unless emailed to yourself or kept a copy on an external device, the copy lost was the only copy in existence.

Thanks, Danny. Our IT team have asked why Minecraft data is being stored in a volatile folder for packages on a PC when it should be saved to a non-volatile folder. It is quite ridiculous that the data is deleted when the app is uninstalled when other Microsoft apps do not do this. The apps message in settings even states that app data will not be deleted when uninstalled. Thankfully we seem to have recovered it by using EASEUS. Teachers do not have the time to export a world after every single lesson for multiple year levels.

Hi Danny, I have raised a support case with the worlds zipped-up that I recovered from the disk. I hope someone there can spend a little on time this to try their magic and get the worlds back for the students.
Kind regards,
David

Hey Jodie,
I just responded to this question on your other post, but feel free to respond on this one if you would like.
David,
I took a look at the ticket you submitted. Unfortunately, due to the nature of how the world was corrupted, it doesn't look like there is a way to recover that world. I whole heartedly apologize for this, as I am aware of how much hard work and effort can go into these worlds. I know Danny already said this, but just to reiterate, it is important to regularly back up the worlds as these cases can be caused by a number of events. If by chance another device still has access to the world, it can be exported from that device and imported as well!
