me and my friend are unable to join each other

Hey there,
Sorry to hear you are running into some issues joining.
What device make / model and OS version are you on when you got this error?
Are you on the latest version of Minecraft Education?
Is this a home network or school network?
Have you tired / can you try a different network to see if you can replicate the issue?
How many would you say are affected?

i think my device is an ipad 7?
yes i am on the latest version of the game
i was using a home network
well i’ve tried using hotspot but that didn’t work
two people are affected, just me and my friend
for the record we go to different schools and we’re only online friends, could that be the issue?0 -
Hey C H,
You are receiving this error because you and your friend do not belong to the same tenant (school)
I am really sorry, but you will not be able to play with your friend with your school's Minecraft Education accounts, however, you might check out Minecraft bedrock or java edition, as they do not have any of the multiplayer restrictions Minecraft Education has.

Ernie, I think you're wrong. I am able to join my friends from different schools all the time. If you mean different school districts, then yeah maybe but different schools works fine with me.

Hey Jay,
I originally said tenant, but a lot of users don't know what that refers to so it easier to conceptualize it as a school.
You are correct that some school districts are set up all under one tenant, but that is not always the case and they will not be able to play together if they do not belong to the same tenant. They are receiving the expected error code for this particular situation as well.

I had this issue. Re-installing and verifying each person was running the same version helped me.

Good point, Billy!
If users belong to the same tenant/organization are receiving this error, there is a good chance they may not be on the same version of Minecraft Education.
