Sign in process freezes before I can enter info

On a new chromebook, I am trying to sign in to Minecraft Ed. The red Mojang screen comes up, then the cherry blossom background pic and the prompt to sign in. When I click the link the screen either flashes white or goes black. I am concerned something is wrong with the chromebook (it has plenty of RAM space). I would appreciate any help!

  Is this a home network or school network?

  Have you tried a different network?

  Is this a commercial account or school managed account?

  Do you know anyone else experiencing these issues?

  Can you share a screenshot (without any personal info) of the the screen you are stuck on?
