Sign-on issues on PC
I'm tech support for our local school district and we use an Active Directory system to log students onto the computers in the lab. Since the last update 1.19.52 we have had intermittent issues signing in, the program loads, gets to the page where you enter your email address, the student enters it and then they get the spinning wheel of death. The only way to close the program from here is to end the task in Task Manager.
What I have discovered is this issue only occurs when there are multiple users signed into the computer, once a restart is performed and all other users are forced to log off, I can log into the same account that had the issue and I can get to the password page that wouldn't load before.
I think this has something to do with the newest update that included some kind of Single User Sign-on system and I believe this is whats conflicting with multiple users. This has never been an issue until after the students came back from spring break.
Now, this helps me to enforce best practices and encourage students to properly log off the computer when they are finished, but I thought others might want to be aware of what I spent almost two weeks trying to troubleshoot.
I tried declining the new popup, i tried turning off Single User Sign on but for each user it wants to do it again so there is something now embedded in the program that's causing the issue.
While this is a band-aid fix I am trying to find the root cause of the issue so it can be resolved. So if anyone reading this has advice on how to restore things to the way they were I am open to suggestions.

Thanks for this feedback J.P. Wood. I am going to pass this on to my engineering team. I'm also going to open a ticket so we can collect more information from you to help us troubleshoot.

J.P. Wood our testers are going to try to repro - could you let us know what type of device you are seeing these issues on? Also, if you are using PCs do you use the desktop (.exe) or the store (.appx) version to install on the PCs?

it is on Windows 10 OS and various models of dell, 7010, 3010, and lenovo thinkcenters M900. The image we used was created from a ISO, not from the online store. The machines are also domain joined.

Hello J.P. , I am in a similar situation. We use an image and after the last microsoft update our students started getting "contact admin, user not found" messages while trying to log in. The only thing I have found that works is reimaging the device. It is horrible. I've tried repair, reset, uninstall, reinstall and the only thing that is working is a reimage. I'm here looking for a better way...

Hello Penny any word on why this is happening?

We are still investigating and isolating the issue. We are hoping the Devs will have a hotfix soon that will address many of the issues that are being reported.

Thank you! We are the last leg of school and need this program running. We love what it can do when it can do it.

We are thinking, from what you describe, that the user's profile may be corrupt. As a test try removing a user's profile from the PC (inside the registry.) If this works then what you can try is having students use devices they have never used before, which will cause a login profile to be made for them and see if they have access.

In the summer we use the DelProf to clear student profiles, I will test this then. I cant delete them right now as they are in the middle of a semester and deleting the profile will also remove their local saved data. I will test on one computer to see if it helps.

I started with a fresh image and signed several students in and was able to run Minecraft without issue. However there were some new options that the users are prompted with upon logon that give an error now where before, when the programs were crashing, there was no error and the student could register the device. What is this supposed to accomplish and why is this appearing now?
I took screenshots this time.0 -
Hey there!
In the last screenshot at the bottom, it is making me think this is a guest account.
I would recommend reaching out to your school's IT admin for more information.
