    Hey there,

Sorry to hear you are running into some issues. Are you on a personal device / school managed one?

Are you trying to connect to a school network or home network?

My students cannot join any of the worlds I post as well.  This was not the case last school year.  Never had a problem.

All devices are school managed ...

With these being school managed please check any content filters in place and make sure all of our URLs are added to the content filter and network allow list. Also try adding our app as a trusted source to any firewall that is installed.

I have had a similar issue. I am on the most current version posted on the wndows store, along with all of my friends, but when i try to join their worlds it says "Unable to connect to world" This goes both ways. Do you know the issue? they can join eachother's worlds fine and we are all on the same standard issue school computers.

Spider, try having one of them host a new world and see if you are able to connect to it. I would also try using a different username to sign into the device and see if it still occurs. One of your friends can log into the device and see if they are able to join a hosted world. If they are able to that may indicate your profile on the device may be corrupted.

Dominick If people were to find out that a profile on a device is corrupted, can you point us to instructions about how to fix a corrupted profile on a device?

The easiest way but requires you to backup any files you want to keep is to delete your old profile from the device. Then when you login it will automatically create a new profile with your login. The other option is to search recover corrupted profile and follow those instructions. This does not always work and does deal with manipulating the registry files (backend files for device) but may fix your issue without having to create a new profile.

Is there an easy way to make sure you "backup all the files" associated with a profile?

I am having similar problems - a group of kids with their own device (chromebooks) couldn't join each others' worlds, but could join one that I made - then today, they could not join my world.  Another group working together could join each other with no problem, but the 3 affected students couldn't join their world.  Now I can't join other groups on my device either.  I have seen comments about a profile being corrupted but I am not sure what is meant by that - is that a Minecraft profile?

I am referencing the device profile for users when they login. You can back up all files if you make a clone drive that mirrors the current hard drive but beyond that its manually moving files you want saved.

If there are more than one person using a device but not all the profiles are corrupted, it would seem that we don't really want to clone the whole drive but just the files/folders associated with the profile that we need to delete.
Which Folders need to be included in the backup to make sure we are saving all the appropriate files for the "profile" since if we are simply taking a drive image and then restoring it, that is just going to put the corrupted profile back in place, rather defeating the purpose of the whole operation.
A list of the folders generally associated with a profile on the different types of devices might be helpful.  I'm only really versed with backing up windows machines so I'm having trouble figuring out how to help my student families with the chrome books or Ipads.

This is probably worthy of a support article if it turns out to be a common fix.
