Minecraft 1.18 Problem

After updating minecraft education edition to 1.18, it stopped working. I use a chromebook and every time I launch the game, the Mojang Studio screen shows up, turns darker and the game just freezes. I noticed this problem with other people too. The playstore ratings section for MEE is also filled with people describing this problem. Please try to fix it :(

  I am sorry to hear about the black screen issue. This is a known bug we are investigating. If you are on Windows, please try this:

  • Uninstall all versions of Minecraft: Education Edition (back up any worlds you need to) 
  • Navigate to: https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download
  • Scroll down past the Windows, Chromebook or Android, Mac and Iphone/Ipad options. Click "download from the Windows Store"
  • Try and download the update from the Windows Store and let us know how that goes!

  Currently that is our only fix. I hope this helps.

  We have found a workaround that may help with newly created accounts. First Open teams/ login with your account that will play Minecraft Education/ complete the first-time setup process/ then you should be able to login to Minecraft Education. We are still testing to see but I hope this helps.
