"There was a problem connecting to the world" Error for multiplayer

Every time i try and join a friend or a multiplayer world, it stays on the "connecting to multiplayer world" screen before popping up with an error. i have deleted Education Edition and redownloaded it so many times and it hasnt fixed the issue. I am on mac OS and i cannot connect to people with windows and mac os. 

The issue has been ongoing for around 2 years now and has not been fixed

  A few things to confirm:

  1. Are you using any proxies or filters (i.e. Web Filtering)? If so, can you confirm that you've allow listed all required URLs and added all Firewall exclusions?

  2. Does this occur in a specific world or lesson? This can help determine any world specific things that might cause issues.

  3. Are you both from the same school and using an account provided from the same school? (i.e. do your usernames end with the same domain?)
