I should have stated this prior as it may help, I play on a PC and the world is survival.

My old worlds open. If you have storage problems, that is a separate issue.

Consider moving large files, including mcworld files you are not currently using, to cloud or external storage to free up space on your computer.

Of course, there are the old stand-bys. (empty the trash, reduce unnecessary files in downloads like installation files. delete tmp files, etc.)

Thank you for the advice! I should have enough storage space on my PC, I've looked at what takes up the most storage and I've found that it's videos. I'll get rid of some and let you know if the issue is solved.

Hello! I'd like to let you know that this issue could potentially be server side and not client side as I have 89.7 GB free on my storage after some clean up. Do you know any other possible fixes for this?

Sometimes a world can get corrupted or fall out of date once a newer client version is released. Do you have any backups of the world in question? Also, when you say your kicked because of using too much storage, was this an error your computer threw and if so, do you still have that code? My guess is that the hardware on your device might have a problem and needs updating. Are you able to test this world on another device to see if it allows you in?

    1. I was planning to make a backup of the world shortly but have not done so yet.

    2. I was able to play on the world for a few months after 1.17 came out for Minecraft Education Edition.

    3. "Also, when you say your kicked because of using too much storage, was this an error your computer threw and if so, do you still have that code?" I'm not sure what you mean by that.

    4. How would I update the hardware on my device? I use a Windows 10.

    5. I am unable to test this world on another device at the moment.

OK so try on another device to see if that helps when you can. I was asking about your statement "I could just play for a few minutes before being kicked for using too much storage" to see if your computer had an error message pop up after or if you can elaborate on this part of the problem more. You can try updating your Windows device to 11 to see if that helps and drivers for your device if things like the USB controller is failing etc. If you have that error message that will tell us more.

I should have clarified this. I do have an error message. Here is a screenshot:

That leads me to think its a hardware issue that is occurring. This leads me to think its your RAM for your device. Please let me know your findings after you try a different device. If this is a Chromebook try power washing it which resets its hardware.

I don't have any other PCs available to display the info. I don't use a Chromebook, rather an HP laptop. How can I check my RAM for my device?

The only other suggestions I have are:

...to ask a Minecraft buddy to try to open the world on their machine and see if they have the same problem.

...and have you considered reinstalling Minecraft? I don't know if you have used any mods, but they make a mess of things sometimes.

We also have saving issues on our accounts in our school completely aside from actual space limits on the devices due to local profiles, but it doesn't sound like you are dealing with that.

I'll give a shot uninstalling and reinstalling it. If that doesn't fix the issue, the only person that I play with on the world plays on their ipad. How could I send the world to them if the first solution doesn't work?

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft Education Edition. It didn't change anything and the world still shows the same error message.

    I would agree with Debbie.

I think there's some local storage or cache space that's completely filled up.

How much space is left on your hard drive (click on This PC in File Explorer)? Anything less than 1GB and you will start running into really weird issues.

How much RAM do you have in your system (click on Start>Settings>System>About)?

Which version of Windows 10 are you running (you can also find this in System>About)?

Some other thoughts: I'd also restart the computer (if you haven't already done so) and make sure you're not running a lot of other programs at the same time as Minecraft. You can check to see what's running on your system on start up by opening the Task Manager (press CTRL SHIFT ESC, or you find it in search), and checking the CPU, Disk and RAM columns to see what might be using up your system resources, if there is a hidden culprit. Sometimes applications you might install come with hidden bloatware, and they'll start using up a considerable amount of RAM or max out disk usage.

I've got 84.0 GB of storage left, so that shouldn't be an issue.

I have 7.70 GB of RAM left.

I am running Windows 10 Home.

I've restarted my PC, and I typically run no background applications when playing Minecraft Education Edition unless I am talking to my friend that plays on the world with me on Discord. When in Task Manager, would you advise that I set Minecraft Education Edition's priority to high?

Ok, so it definitely sound like it's not a resource problem as you have plenty of space and ram,

Which version of Windows 10 Home? That's just the edition. Version will look like 21H1 or something like that.

When you installed Minecraft, did you install it from the Windows Store, or did you download and install the .exe from the Education site?

Alright. Yes, the version is 21H1. I downloaded and installed the .exe from the Minecraft Education Edition site.

Okay, sounds like you're pretty up to date.

I'd try uninstalling the .exe version, and try installing the version from the Windows store. They're slightly different in terms of how they install, so you may end up with different results. You have an export of this world, yes?

I'll try that. I don't have an export of the world though.

Can you show me how to get the windows store version of Minecraft Education Edition?

If you don't have an export of your world, you may end up losing it.

You might be able to copy the folder from here:

    C:\Users\<youruseraccount>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.MinecraftEducationEdition_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds\

In theory if you organize the folder by date, the most recent one and the top will be the last one you had open. I have not had a lot of success recovering worlds this way, but it's worth a shot.

As for the Windows store version, if you go to the download section on the Education site, there is a link at the bottom that take downloads the .appx bundle.

What do I do with the URL? "In theory if you organize the folder by date, the most recent one and the top will be the last one you had open. I have not had a lot of success recovering worlds this way, but it's worth a shot." Can you please explain what you mean by this? Sorry, I'm not really sure what to do from this point. Thank you for the Windows Store information.

There will be a bunch of folders in this location with names that are just random letters and numbers. Each of these folders represents a World file.

You would copy this folder out of this location, and then drop it into the Store location (once you've installed the game from the .appx bundle) which is different from the PC location (I know confusing!!).

I may have pasted in the wrong directory earlier. The .exe location is:

    C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\Roaming\Minecraft Education Edition\games\com.mojang\minecraftWorlds

The store location is the one in my earlier post.

Are you talking about what I will see when I export the world?

Nope, this is just a way of copying out your world and a way to try to import it back in when your game is corrupt and your unable to export it from within the game itself.

I'm kind of confused. What am I doing here?

    In short:

    1. Copy the folder of your world from the PC location (since you can't export the world in the traditional way, try to copy the world out and place it somewhere where you can grab it again later).

    2. Uninstall the .exe version of the game, and install the .appx Store version.

    3. Paste the folder you copied earlier in the the folder structure for the Store version.

    4. Try opening the game and see if your world is there.

Okay. How do I get to the location?

I'm super sorry for the large amount of questions I'm just making sure that I am doing it correctly.

No problem, Dominik. That's what we're here for.

You can access those file locations by using File Explorer on your computer. Once you have it open, you'll need to click "View" on the ribbon, and select "Hidden items".
