M1 Macbook - Global resources reset error
Hi, I know there are similar posts but none in the last 6 months. We are running MacOS monterey 12.0.1 and trying to run minecraft education v1.17.30 and have tried v1.17.31 also.
When opening minecraft we can sign in however the page hans and does say global resources reset unable to load.
Does anyone have nay information or knowledge on what may cause this? Could it be a local device problem or a software compatibility issue? We are at a loss to know where to turn next as the students got new m1 macs this year and it worked on their older macs last year fine but now does not.

I tried the beta version 1.19.50.0 but 1st progress bar stops at 97%.

Sorry you are running into a Global resource error.

If that does not work, I would recommend updating your OS to Ventura and let us know how that goes!

Ver. 1.19.50 Beta works fine by updating MacOS from Big Sur to Montery.

Unfortunately this beta 1.19.50.0 is still showing the same freeze as the previous versions.
I'm on a mac m1 16GB running Ventura 13.1.
I have removed all minecraft related files and folders.
Reinstalled the Minecraft Education Beta 1.19.50.0
Made sure firewall isn't blocking any request.- Opened it,
- the app starts,
- shows the (minecraft) 'Sign-in Required' Dialog,
- then the window freezes
- but a new Window opens with the (microsoft) Sign-in page.
- Sign-in succeeds and I can close the window.
- But the main window never recovers.
- I have to Force-quit the application
- When I reopen Minecraft Education I have to login again and same thing happens.
I could make a screen-recording.
If you need the contents of any minecraft related file please let me know.I will also try a safe-boot of my Mac again as previous versions would run in safe-boot mode.

Thank you for trying that excellent troubleshooting and letting us know. I am curious if you have any local filters or proxies running on that Mac. If you have any try disabling one at a time as a test to see if that helps and where the issue may be originating from. This could also be due to the Mac being a M1 and we are still trying to find what might be causing this with M1&M2 Macs.

Hello, just to confirm I'm having the same issue as Patrick Gutlich on a M1 MacBook Pro, but running Monterey 12.6.2. I've tried the standard release and the beta.
I'm able to run the iOS version on my iPhone, which I can AirPlay/screenshare to my Mac but it's a clunky solution. Could I suggest as a workaround temporarily allowing the iOS version to be installed on macOS from the App Store for Silicon-based Macs? Thanks, Chris.

Hi all,
I experienced the same issues as described on Monterey 12.6.2, 12.6.3; M1 Macbook.After investigating, we noticed that removing network content filter settings (Network Preferences --> Cisco VPN Content Filters were installed by our school organisation), the app was able to run without issue.
Similarly, I had a student who had a personal firewall with content filtering running on MacOS Ventura. MEE did not work with similar issues as described above, and after disabling the personal firewall and VPN, worked fine.
MEE did not work while the personal firewall was still "enabled" in Mac Network Preferences but their firewall was "off" in their firewall software settings, so I wonder if there is some problem with content filters being enabled at a system level on an M1 Macbook? The same content filters are applied on Intel machines in our organisations but MEE works fine.
Please advise if there are any configurations that can help enable MEE to run with such content filters, as organisations can sometimes require or install these filters by policy.

Hi, our school technician found a fix on another forum. We have Cisco AnyConnect installed to allow our teachers to remote in from home. Uninstalling Cisco AnyConnect works and stops the crashing on Macbook Pro M1 running Monterey.

Thanks to those who've narrowed it down to a content filter. We have to use a network extension for our antivirus (Sophos), and disabling this extension allows MC Edu to launch correctly. Obviously, this isn't an ideal situation. I can provide our .mobileconfig file to support if it will help troubleshoot.

Can also confirm (though don't tell my IT dept) disabling some firewall and content filtering settings (temporarily, I put them back!) did allow the game to launch as normal and play as normal.

So...
- I removed Sophos...no joy.
- 347.68 GB available of 494.38 GB
- I have tried at my home network and various hotspots with now joy.
- I am running MacOS 13.2 with an M1 chip. I have also installed ME v.1.18.45.
- I had allowed Full Disk access, Added to App Management, added to Developer Tools, Added to Screen Recording.
- I deleted all PLISTS and KeyChain info.
- When I reinstalled, I uninstalled, reboot, install, reboot.
- Intel based MacBook...ZERO problems.
I am still getting Global Resource error. Anything else I can try?

Here is how I temporarily solved my problem on an m1 with macos 13:
Not a preferred solution of course, disabling network filters, but until it gets fixed I can use Minecraft Education.1. Go to the Apple menu and choose “System Settings”2. Go to “Network”3. Choose “VPN & Filters”4. Under the ‘Filters & Proxies” section, identify any content filterand either remove it by selecting and clicking the – minus button,or changing the status to “Disabled’1 -
Has anyone success loading MMEE on M1 Pro running Ventura?
I am getting the freezing error after login and I have tried most of the recommended actions on this thread
I have tried the current and the beta version (Version 1.19.50)
I have tried MMEE on the Mac running Monterey, then upgraded to Ventura, then flattened and started from a Ventura boot disc.
I have tried on a number of different networks both private and public
I cannot term filters off as it's not permitted by my University (Sophos)
It's driving me wild as I need it for a research project.
Can anyone help?

If you have Sophos, I have an escalated ticket in development currently. I am being told that Sophos will not have a new client ready until mid-March.
I did a ton of troubleshooting with Sophos. If you have Admin access or know the sys admins, you will need to:
- From Sophos Central navigate to Endpoint Protection > Policies.
- Create or clone an existing Threat Protection policy then assign it to your affected machine(s).
- Disable the following settings and save the policy.
- IPS
- Threat Graph

Many thanks everyone on this thread that helped identify where the Content Filters live on macOS. Sophos was the culprit for me. I'm now able to run MC Education on an M1 Pro MacBook with macOS Ventura. Really appreciated :)

For what it's worth, I booted Minecraft Education up for the first time in a month or so and had the same problem. I'm on a 2019 Macbook Pro Intel Core i7. I'm running Monterey 12.5.1. It may not be a M1 thing.
This is super inconvenient as I'm presenting on Minecraft Education at a conference In a few days.

Chris Goodson - sorry this is throwing you for a loop! I am assuming that with your upcoming conference installing the Beta version isn't an easy choice. =/ I wish I knew a fix for you. lol, or could loan you a computer. Please let us know how things go.

For me, it's definitely a Sophos thing (M1 Pro, Ventura). Without Sophos running it works fine, with Sophos it does not. Unfortunately this identifies the problem but does not solve it as I do have permission to pause Sophos.

Chris Goodson Check out your Sophos or AV. The next gen AV have content filters built in that may be the issue.

I don't know that this is necessarily an M1/M2 issue. I've got a lab full of Intel-based 2015 iMacs that are having this freeze up issue. We use JAMF to deploy and update the software, and the university uses Fortinet EDR as a malware/AV solution. It doesn't appear to be an issue with EDR blocking the software because it doesn't register a hit on the EDR server (according to Network Services).
I have another 2015 iMac of the same model, memory, HD configuration, that has not been enrolled in JAMF and doesn't have the EDR Collector installed. It has no problems running Minecraft Edu, no problems logging in or our of the M365 accounts, and no problems quitting the app.
On the unmanaged computer, as the app starts up you hear music playing in the background, before you even login. On any of the managed Macs, you don't get any music, you may or may not be able to login to M365, but in all cases the app freezes - sometimes with a global resource access error or something similar, but not always - and you cannot close the app, except with a force-quit.The iMacs are running macOS 12.6.3. They've got 16 GB of memory and a 1 TB drive with lots of space.Any suggestions would be appreciated!0 -
Greetings all, I am actually working with Sophos at this moment testing a Beta build for this today.
Just to clarify, this is NOT an M1 specific issue. This is more of a MacOS working with Sophos issue. I just found the issue at first with the M1. It actually happens on Intel based Mac's as well.0 -

I'm getting this error on M2 Mac running Ventura v13.3.1 (fully patched) and MEE v1.19.52.
It hangs at signing-in and Command+Q does not work. Had to resort to force quit.
