In order to play together on Minecraft Education all users must be under the same account. This is a built-in security feature to protect students from outside sources. If you're using a different version from what they are playing like Minecraft Java and Minecraft Education, you won't be able to play together either. Please make sure you are using an account that matches ones they use and you'll be able to play with them.

Right, so Minecraft EDU looks at the email of the user:

    username@domainname.extension

and requires that the domain name be the same. This adds security for schools, because students can only be playing with someone from their own school. However, MC:EE also requires that on joined worlds, the user names are different. In other words, terry@myschool.org cannot let their dad also sign in on the same account, terry@myschool.org and join their world. It will give an error that the same username cannot join.

I am with you, Patrick Morin - wanting to be part of my kids' world and participate with them. What about this idea? Everybody is in their own world, but all in the same room on the same world. try the Build Challenges, the Hour of Code lessons, and so many other activities, and enjoy each other's progress. See links below:

Click here, scroll waaaay down, to Build Challenges - click to see more! My fav is the Comic Books.
