External multiplayer server

I can’t connect to worlds using the IP address,(nothing is wrong with the iPad’s connection or the internet router), I can only join with the code. Also is there a way to make a external server on iPad and I think I’m doing it right by typing the IP below the code into the box for the IP address, then I hit Join World and it will start connecting but says something like unable to connect to External world

  Hi Josh Munch - There currently isn't a way to run Minecraft: Education Edition on an external server.  Check out this article for more information on some of the errors you are describing:
