We’re thrilled to announce that the long-awaited features of Minecraft 1.16 (Nether update) and 1.17 (Caves and Cliffs part 1) are coming to Minecraft: Education Edition! Check out these coming features and more in our GOAT Beta which is live today!
There are many new features to try, including:

Beta Known issues:
Coding: On rare occasions, while coding in Code Builder, the code may run out of order or skip steps.
UNESCO Global Build Challenge: Unable to continue dialog with NPC near start and unable to leave the conversation.

Our betas normally last 4-6 weeks before we release to general availability. However, we are not able to provide an exact release date at this time.

Jayden Tondro on pocket edition, you have to hold your finger over the axolotl so that the circle is on them. If they are in water, use an empty bucket and hold your finger on the axolotl. If they are on dry land, use a water bucket and do the same. For more information-

Dylan ANDERSON after the beta period is complete, we'll release to general availability and you will be able to access the GOAT update without joining the beta. We don't have a release date to share yet.

since you have started GOAT Beta i thought i should say what i wish to add to the game
- Experimental gameplay as that is a feature in normal bedrock
- When you locate a structure instead of writing the whole coordinates you could just press a button to teleport their
- For Locating Structures it comes up with stuff like temple and that covers a wide variety of stuff so t should be more exact
- Have stuff like balloons and ice bombs in creative inventory as its really hard to get that stuff (if you want students to have to make it themselves you could ad like a switch in gameplay settings to turn it on and off)
- More unique stuff to education as it seems very similar to normal bedrock and their should be a uniqueness (maybe even a new mob that would be cool)
- join codes should get a change cos why not
- make a way to add skins / skin packs1 -

btw when i give myself a photo with a command it crashes my game i don't know if you are already aware of this i'm just pointing it out

Marshall Adams I'm interested to hear more about the issue you are having giving yourself a photo with a command. Could you send us all the steps you take to see the crash, or even better record a video showing how you get to the crash? These photo actions are new to Education Edition so you may have found a bug!

Problems in English Adventures by Cambridge, when entering the library gate you won't be able to walk on the letters in order to oper the main door. So the game is totally blocked.

The update is good I just think you and your team should add experimental game play and animation so you lean towards the pocket edition side. Also add like something were you can make a Minecraft story animation and emotes. Thats all from mee

I noticed that the nether mobs do not attack you (piglins, piglin brutes, hoglin) even when provoked. (I was not wearing armor at the time). I was not wearing gold armor at the time.

Hello,
I was testing your beta version ( v1.17.30.2 ) and I couldn't test it will, I am was using: The Acer Chromebook 314 (or Chromebook 14), the game started will but after i toched a button in my laptop, the game started making black flash every second.It only stop when I am opening the invertory and when I am opening setting; however, when I tried it in Windows 10 it doesn't make that black flash,
The storge of my chromebook was 18 GB form 64 GBPlease contact fast,
