Variables Lesson Problem
Hi
I am again trying to follow a lesson from within Minecraft Education, and yet again the instructions don't follow the coding blocks you are given. On Step 3 of the 3rd task in the variables lesson you are asked to create a variable called 'word1' and set it to 'rail'. However, I am struggling to be able to set the variable to a string value, and you cannot set the player position to a coordinate value, or 'null' as it says in the prompt.

Okay, I'm taking a peek at this sorry you had to wait for a response. I am thinking that you are on this lesson?

If you are supposed to be getting relative coordinates, you can just look around on the page at the green print block. Right click on the coordinates there and make a copy. I am going to look at this now. And thanks for the screenshot - very helpful!

Okay, have you seen the example code of the solution:

I found it by looking at the bottom left side of the page on the link above, and looking at the Educator Guide under the External References.
Let me know if this is enough help. We are glad to help, and want to improve things on or end as well. Laylah Bulman

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me. Yes, I've seen the coding solution to it, but the problem comes in that when you go into the lesson going through the menus > computer science > coding tutorials > variables, when you go into the code mode, you go into the step by step tutorial. The coding blocks this gives you is specifically selected and does not give you the whole selection you'd get if you just made a new world from a blank biome...but they you would not have of the world interface which has been specifically built for the lesson.
Thefore, the coding options in the coding solution which is available are not available to choose. As in the screen shot, neither are the some of the blocks it asks you to use, hence the problem.
Hope that makes sense. I can easily supply any more screenshots. I don't think it's me doing something stupid!
Many thanks
Nick
