why is edu based off of bedrock edition and not java edition?

also, is there a way for edu to show achievements in game?

  I think bedrock edition have good wark in Windows.

  Well 1st of all there's nothing wrong with bedrock. 2nd of all if you want java just buy Minecraft

  I didnt say there was anything wrong with bedrock it's just that there's multiple differences between the two versions, namely the 1.9 combat update and differing redstone mechanisms, along with changes in spawning requirements and with the addition of spectator mode and hardcore difficulty. Not only that but mods are compatible with java unlike bedrock. I could sit here all day and go on about all differences but I just want to know why bedrock was used if it is only available on computers
