- Are you on a home network or at school?
- Is the person hosting the world on a home network or at school?
- Does the person hosting the world you're trying to connect to have an email address from your school or school district?

Sounds like you may have a mix of networks and email domains - is this correct? Here are a few things that need to be in place for multiplayer to work:
- All players need to have accounts from the O365 tenant, which means you are in the same school organization
- The player hosting the game has to have their network configured with open ports, and have their network open to traffic to certain URLs. This guide explains these configurations in more depth: How to Set up a Multiplayer Game at Home – Minecraft: Education Edition Support
