Screen flickering and black screen
When starting Minecraft Education on Chromebooks many students are running into a flickering screen or just a black screen. I have found a work around for some but usually requires a powerwash for most. I cannot figure out the reason why it does this. Please advise.

Hi there Shaun Laqeretabua. I'm sorry to hear that this is happening on your Chromebooks. Are all your devices updated to the most recent version of ChromeOS? Likewise, are your students running other apps when this happens, and how long has it been happening? Just let us know.

I am having the same issue with random student chromebooks. Have updated the computer, done a powerwash, but with little effect. The flashing is really bad. Now I have a headache trying to solve it. Help?

My oldest son went to log into his account on his chromebook. His screen was flickering and went to black screen. I restarted his chromebook and even looked to see if his chromebook OS is updated( which it is). Still has the problem. I logged him into his account onto my laptop and there is no issue. My youngest son says that he has no issue on his account on his chromebook. It worked fine on two days ago. He never runs any other apps while he plays Minecraft.

Screen Flicker Quick Work Around:
Issue appears to be in using Minecraft Education for Chromebooks in 'fullscreen' mode.
Take your Minecraft out of full screen mode. You can then resize by dragging the Minecraft window as large as you want, but do not use the full screen button.

Many teachers using MC:EE in our school district are experiencing this issue today. The full screen workaround didn't work for us. No clue what is going on! Someone reported it happening earlier this week but so far I have 8 teachers reporting it is happening in their classrooms today.

I am also having the same issue because I did play Minecraft Education edition 2 days ago and it worked but the day after that it showed the Mojang logo and title and started to flicker repeatedly and I power washed my Chromebook today but it did not work also. It had also been making the app launcher in my Chromebook flicker and glitch please help me with the problem. Thank you.

You have to stay off full screen for a while and after my message the next morning Minecraft was working just fine. Also do you all have the Beta version?

Yes I do have Beta

I will try what you said but it's unlikely that it will work

Yea I uninstalled and reinstalled it but before you do that download some of your important worlds I don't recommend this but I also powerwashed my chromebook and everything was working but minecraft was still doing until the next day on saturday

I don't really want to powerwash because I just started intermediate this year and I had to powerwash my chromebook because I screwed it up when signing in to my new account at the start of the year. And that was really annoying

Yes that's why I don't recommend it but good thought.

Maybe I'll try it... But not rn

Yes, But everything will be different and you have to try and wait for google play store to have Minecraft again which took 40 minutes for me but maybe think about it before you do it and it can also take away all your screenshots and photos etc..

But it is really your choice on what you want to do.

Maybe I'll try uninstalling. Then wait a week or so... Then reinstall

Okay yea you can try that way too 👍
