Symantec Endpoint Protection 14.3.1 - students can't connect to the Multiplayer World I host...
Since Symantec has been updated on my teacher laptop I have been unable to use the multiplayer function. Usually I host the world and students join using a pod of Macbooks I have in the library. After they put in the host code it looks like the world is loading, they see the name but then it comes up cannot Connect. I used another Macbook that didn't have virus protection and hosted a world and the students could join. So I'm pretty sure that the Symantec Endpoint is causing the issues.
I also notice that when I go to save a world it doesn't save and gets stuck and just stays on the - do not turn of Minecraft page so I think this is also down to the virus protection.
I'm going to get the tech to remove the antivirus just to be 100% sure. But is there a way around this? I found the pdf regarding multiplayer but the link, under Connection issues, bullet point 2, doesn't have anything about Symantec virus.

Likely the security software is blocking port access to your computer. I would remove that software and try again.

You can look through the log files to see if IPS is blocking or SONAR. Minecraft from a EDR perspective does make many calls out, and from what i have seen uses hidden .PS commands. Short version, ask IT to validate the logs, and create exclusions or put your system in a separate group/policy. Having them remove AV is very risky.
