Issue with Face2Face and Virtual students joining same world
Our school is still about half and half with kids on campus or learning virtually. A teacher was trying to share a world with his class, 18 kids. He is on campus and only the students that could join were the ones on campus.
When I joined their Zoom meeting from home, I was able to have the virtual kids connect to my world, but the students on campus could not.. Are we not able to have both groups join together? We are all on the same version 1.14.50. Kids are on Chromebooks.

Hello,
Thanks for reaching out! Checkout our updated Multiplayer guide to learn how your students can host and join worlds together.
Multiplayer across different internet connections may be possible as long as the criteria in this article is met. Keep in mind that every network is different, so it's possible that some players may not be able to join a multiplayer session from their respective networks due to distinct configuration settings. Our support team is limited in our ability to troubleshoot these unique network issues, but we are always happy to try to help.
Troubleshooting:
- Restart your computer
- The player hosting the world must have port 19132 open
- https://portforward.com/minecraft/ is a great resource to understand how to open a port
- https://jackboxgames.happyfox.com/kb/article/28-how-to-whitelist-and-resolve-issues-in-antivirus-software-and-firewalls/ provides guidance on firewalls and antivirus
- https://samuelmcneill.com/2020/03/19/remote-learning-with-minecraft-education-edition-across-the-internet/ is a great resource from another educator on multiplayer across networks
-
Connect directly to your modem with a network cable
-
Try turning off other apps on your machine
-
Try using a smartphone as a mobile hot spot
If these troubleshooting steps do not resolve your issue please try contacting your internet service provider. We have seen that some ISPs block the type of network traffic needed for our multiplayer service to work.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
