Code Builder code does not run in M:EE world

Code created in the Code Builder tutorials does not run in the Minecraft Edu world. Students are not able to proceed through demo worlds as they are unable to open the first gate, and the 'HelperBot' only requests that students attempt to solve the problem. We are using both Windows 10 and Chromebook versions of M:EE.
