Multiplayer Connection Issues
Hello,
During the last major lockdown in March 2020, I was able to host my class from my home computer and work all together via an internet connection.
During the current lockdown, I have tried a similar approach with my new class after starting a project in school. There have been significant problems with some children being able to connect. After pupils put the join code in, the name of the world appears but then they cannot connect. There is no consistency, on some days, 4/5 can join, another day 3/5 then another 1/5. Some children are refused then minutes later it works. Persistence does not always work though!
I / the class have tried these below,
Restart the programs / devices on the host and joining devices
Reset the join code
Join a different world
Restart routers
I have even tried an alternative internet source via hot spotting on my phone.
Checking versions of Minecraft Education
Checking firewalls
I have not tried to alter port settings yet, however this was not an issue last year and I have also using my phone to host but with still the same issue.
Does anyone have similar issues or some magical solution / button I can press to sort this out. My class (and me) are very excited to continue to use Minecraft but I have had to stop due its unreliability.
Many thanks for any help,
Ian Russell

Hi Ian Russell, I would definitely check your port forwarding on your router.
Let me know if you need any of the links for directions posted.

yes I have a similar problem. My sister and I are on iPad and can’t join each other anymore but we could previously. I’m also looking for a solution so if anyone has one please share.

Hi there Ian Russell, Dan Noble is on the right track here! You can look at our guide for setting up port forwarding here:
Isabel Bitner, in this case I would try to reinstall Minecraft: Education Edition on both you and your sister's iPad.
