Do I have to be online for my students to play in our class world?
I want to use MEE to teach collaboration and teamwork to my esports class. I would like for them to be able to access our world at varying times, as some have another class scheduled during our class time and have to log in and do assignments at a different time, and they all have varying work schedules. I wanted us to build a collaborative world, but it seems like we all have to be online at the same time? Also, some students are at school and some are at home, and I'm teaching from home. I would like to set up something like a regular Minecraft Server, where they can log in whenever and work in our communal world. Is this possible?

Hi there Beth Bachuss. Great question! Minecraft: Education Edition works on a P2P system, which means players need to be connect to a host player to engage online. There are no dedicated servers for M:EE. I apologize for the inconvenience here.

Would it be possible to set up a computer to be signed in and host a world and you could leave it up and running even if you are not "attending it" all the time? It would require a machine that could be left up and running and have the port forward set to it. I actually have a "spare" student account called Host on a machine that I can leave set up kinda like a server so I'm wondering if I can wet it like an IP address server on a different port so I don't have to change port forwards each time I want a different machine to host.
