Student Coding problems

I've been teaching in MEE, but some of my students cannot get code builder working. Whether in their own world or their own, however I change setting, they cannot get the simplest codes to activate. I'm looking at their screens, so I see that heir code is right. They're doing simple Makecode assignments. Why is no code working?

  Thanks for reaching out to us. What devices are they using? Also what version of Minecraft: Education Edition are they currently on?
