Thanks for reaching out Mike! Currently there is no way to stop a user from logging in and creating a new world. Once you assign a world you can go into Classroom mode and prevent certain things from happening if needed (such as mobs, weather, destruction, fighting). I will pass on the idea to the development team though as we are always looking for new ways to improve the experience!

    Thanks for the response Adam.

Feedback we're getting from teaching staff is that it's a bit of a nightmare preventing students from going off and creating their own worlds during the planned lesson.

Therefore, various ways to lock Minecraft down for students would be really useful!

    Thanks,

    Mike

A lot of our educators have shared ideas for this type of management and one of the most useful ones we have found is to make sure the kids are on a strict time limit of being able to do their lesson. This means even something as short as 30 minutes, they have to complete a task and use the in-game camera to take a picture to show that they completed that portion of the lesson itself (super useful if they are remote learning). If you are in a Teams or Zoom call you can always use the tried and true method of randomly calling on a student to share their screen to show the work they've done.

If they end up creating a random world and playing instead of doing the assignment in the world you sent them then they lose points/fail the lesson. Its a good lesson about time management and deadline meeting. I would definitely jump into the Lesson Planning forum and reach out to some of the mentors on here as they are amazing at giving advice for this.

If you haven't been to them we have been doing weekly online webinars that have been really great in connecting teachers from across the globe and learning different strategies!
