Multi World Setup
Hello supporters,
We have been using the earlier version of Minecraft for a few years and this was the setup that we were using
Scenario -
We have around 120 Students and who are put in group of 35-40 students depending upon the size of the class. Each Group is provided a seperate Minecraft server which they login to. The availability of the server is restricted to the Tutorial time, where students get together and build Infrastructure.
Server Setup - We used one Windows server and had 4 Minecraft servers installed. Each server had a different Ip address. Example -
Minecraft Server 1 - 192.168.1.98:1.0.0.2
Minecraft Server 2 - 192.168.1.98:1.0.0.4
Minecraft Server 3 - 192.168.1.98:1.0.0.6
The Subnet mask for each of the Minecraft servers were different, so the students could connect to their respective server id that they were provided.
PROBLEM
We are trying to replicate this with Microsoft Minecraft Education Edition. Some of the challenges that we are facing and would love to hear some recommendations of how to approach this
- Is it possible to install multiple instances of Minecraft in the same machine. Example - 3 instances of Minecraft in one Windows 10 Machine OR do we need 3 seperate windows machine.
- We run our Tutorials in a controlled environment i.e. Minecraft is available to students only during tutorial time. After which we save the world and provide the same world again the same team for the next Tutorial. Generally in there are two tutorial sessions that would run in different Classrooms. Also could this be done using just one Teacher Email id or we would need multiple of these.
- Third issue i guess which most of us are aware of is the password protection. guess the only work around for us is since the game is available only during the Tutorial we should be to check any discrepancies.
Thank you for the read and appreciate any suggestion that you may have!

Hi Vivek,
Thanks for posting. We are not compatible with Servers at this time, the performance will not be ideal. You can not have multiple instances of the app on a machine either.
Feel free to submit a request if you have any other questions or concerns.
Thanks!
