Structure Block - Ability to Import
Being able to export build is very helpful but if the Structure block also allowed us to import builds/designs from other worlds that would be very helpful. As a teacher, it would be a great way to take student's builds and show them off in a different world.
This could lead to having a superflat world that act as a museum of past student's designs and it becomes a space for student inspiration.

Brian Weiss Hay, sorry I really don't have any videos on how to do anything actually.
to use the Pack I shared. Simply double click it or import it into minecraft education edition.
Then you simply need to find the com.mojang folder. https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/4404785703316-Location-of-World-Files
In the com.mojang folder you will find Behavior packs folder and a developmental behavior packs folder. Move that basic behavior pack into the developmental behavior packs folder (this just makes it so you can make changes to it and any world that has that pack enabled will look in the developmental behavior packs folder for changes every time it loads.)
(If you will be doing this kind of stuff much, I recommend making a short cut to the com.mojang folder somewhere easy to access.)
Anyway, Only the computers that will be importing structures into different worlds needs the behavior pack. So have your students export the structures and then they can send you the .mcstructure files you put them into the structures folder in that behavior pack. Enable that behavior pack on whatever world you want to import the structures into. (make sure to do backups just in case you accidentally place a structure wrong) Then use a structure block in that world to load the structure files. Definitely do some practicing to figure out how it all works before you try to piece together some complex build (and make lots of backup copies of world just in case.)

Your directions were perfect when I stopped trying to do it on my MacBook Air. Looks like the resource and behavior packs don't work on a Mac. When I tried to open the files on my Mac it didn't recognize to open them with Minecraft and it wouldn't let me choose the app. I tried it on an Acer Chromebook and it worked Great!
I was wondering... Is there a way to extract a structure as a .mcstructure file from a saved .bin file from a PS4 Minecraft world? I used a structure block in game and saved it hoping it would be a separate file. I copied the .bin files onto a USB drive expecting to see structure files and it comes up with a .bin and no .mcstructure files. Maybe a third party software?

I really don't know anything about dealing with files for a PS4. Is there a way to Backup the world files from it? Perhaps you can export the world file to open on a different platform and handle it from there? Yea, there may be a way to do it with 3rd party software but I would have to go internet or youtube searching for a tutorial about how to handle the PS4 files and doing any conversions. Amulet may be able to edit world files and or extract a .mcstructure file from a selection in a world but I'm not that versed with using Amulet myself (I do know it won't handle entities and a lot of education edition stuff it doesn't know how to render and it won't transfer chalkboards.) But it can be used on education edition worlds.

Hi Aleece Landis, I can't seem to access your Basics.mcpack file anymore. When i try to download it through the link it's telling me I'm denied.

Joshua Bowman Uh, not sure what to tell you, it is up on google drive and anyone with the link should be able to download it based on the sharing permissions I set? Is your school/work firewall blocking it?
It really is a most basic behavior pack. I could probably tell you how to make it on your own or you could look up a youtube video that has already done exactly that.

Brian Weiss Sorry I don't think I have a video on that. I did do a video for my students about how to export the structures (you do not need the behavior pack to export the structures)
To use the pack to import structures (install the pack, then move it into the Developmental behavior packs folder just to make life easier on yourself.) Then take those structure files that were exported and put them into the structures folder in the behavior pack. The in world use the structure block or /structure commands to import them. Make sure you take careful note of the file names since it will not auto populate those for you.0 -
I did make a video about how to export the structures.
I did discover that not all devices allow for structure file exports. Apparently ipads don't allow the file access so they have removed the export buttons from the UI? So to let my students who are working on Ipads create structures I had them build in a creative world I hosted and the I exported the structure once they finished it.

Yes I've also made a video on the topic of exporting from Minecraft out to PowerPoint:
