Joining Minecraft world’s remotely

Can someone please help me in having a world my class can join from their home servers. With schools shutting, I really want to organise times where we can go on together to complete tasks and help with morale.
I usually set tasks but don’t actually play (think that will change) so can any instructions be simplified for me. I also use a Mac or iPad.
