I was wondering how will I know as soon as the new update comes out?

  The best place to get information about our releases is the announcements section of our Support Center!  https://minecrafteducation.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

  Anytime a new release comes out, the game will display a message after login that about the release.  iOS and PC versions of Minecraft: Education Edition will automatically update.
