No way to switch between blocks & Python in HoC: AI Generation
I've been testing out the new Hour of Code: AI Generation activity and realized after selecting either the MakeCode blocks or Python code, there's no way to switch to the other option at any point.
When playing in a standard world you can easily switch between blocks and Python by clicking the 3-bar menu icon and selecting Change Editor. Unfortunately that option is removed from the menu in the HoC activity.
The only way around it seems to be restarting the entire activity to select the other option, but that means you would have to do the whole tutorial and intro sequence again. I just did it as quickly as I could and it took over 5 minutes. I really don't want my students to have to spend that much time just to switch between the blocks and Python code.
Seems like this was an issue with last year's HoC activity too: https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/community/posts/11271113243540-Minecraft-Escape-Estate-toggle-between-Python-and-Blockly

Hey Steve,
This is common in all HOCs so the game activities can be set to the code you choose. That said, unfortunately there is no way to change code options mid game.0 -
Thanks for confirming that Ernie.
I see you have a "Support" label - does that mean you're associated with Minecraft Education? Hoping this is something that can be fixed by implementing the same "Changed Editor" option found in standard worlds and wondering how to go about getting that request to the dev team. Is that something you can help with or is there another way to flag these sort of things for them?

I'm not sure when or if this would be addressed by the team given the specificity of the HoC lessons.
But, I did share your concern with the team so you have been heard. I just don't have a definitive answer to offer at this time.0
