minecraft education freezes after opening (Macbook M1 Pro 2021)
Hi,
My Minecraft Education freezes after around 3 seconds every time I open it, I've tried restarting and redownloading. The only way to close it is to force quit. I've searched around for fixes but none of them seem to work. Thanks for the help!

Hey Danny,
The mobile hotspot didn't work either - I'm on macOS Sonama 14.1.1

Hey Ben,
Are you receiving any error codes or is it just freezing?
Have you tried reinstalling Minecraft Education yet?0 -
Hey Ernie,
It's just freezing upon opening without any error codes and yes, I've tried reinstalling it multiple times but it still freezes.

Hey Ben,
If you're not already up to date, try updating your OS to the latest version.
I know this is far from an ideal solution, but could you try creating a new device user account on your actual Mac?
You may need to back up your data and format the device.0 -
Hi Ernie,
My computer is already up to date and creating a new device user account didn't work - Minecraft still freezes even on that account. Apart from formatting my device, would you recommend any other fixes?

Hey Ben,
We're still not exactly sure what causes this issue to occur.
Can you successfully log in when using a separate network like a mobile hotspot?
There may be a connection being blocked somewhere on your network.
You can also run a registry cleaner on your device.
you could try deleting the resource pack on the device and rebooting it as well.
You can find it here: HD > Users > <user name> > Library > Application support > Minecraftpe > com.mojang
the easiest way to get to the correct location is with the Go command in Finder.
so just press Command-Shift-G and then paste the target directory~/Library/Application Support/minecraftpe/games/com.mojang
and press Enter.0 -
Hey Ernie,
None of the fixes seem to be working, will there be any future fixes to this issue?

Hey there Ben,
Sorry to hear the resource pack deletion did not work.
It sounds like the mobile hotspot didn't have any effect either?
What OS version are you currently on?
Unfortunately there is no ETA to this fix at this time.

Is your device using a proxy or content filter by chance?
0 -
I think it is - my school installed something called Falcon and it's listed as a content filter

If it hasn't been done already, your IT department will need to allowlist all Minecraft Education's service URLs on the content filter. If that has already been done, we may need to create a ticket and do a bit more investigating.

Minecraft Education worked on my old computer registered with the school and had Falcon too though. In addition, my friends' Minecraft Education also works despite being registered with the school.

Do you by chance know what model of Mac your old computer was and which model your friend is using?

My old computer was a Macbook Pro 2019, and my friends all have either Macbook Pros or Airs from 2019.

That seems to track with the current working theory. There seems to be an issue with Macs using Apple processors. We are still investigating this issue though. I will keep you updated on what we are able to find.
