Minecraft lagging too much
When I play Minecraft edu it lags a lot and sometimes doesn't even open at all. Also when I'm playing on a friend's world it still happens and it lags every 2-5 seconds and it's very annoying. Is there something I can do to fix this?

Hey there,
Sorry to hear you are running into some issues.
When did this start happening?
What device make / model and OS version are you on when you got this error?
Are you on the latest version of Minecraft Education?
Is this a home network or school network?
Is this a commercial account or school managed account?

sorry for making you wait
happened at the beginning of the school year
ChromeOS School Chromebook
latest version
School network
school managed account
It's not a network problem since it happens when i'm playing at school or home and at either place I lag but the friend I'm playing with is perfectly fine so i think it's I problem on my side.

Hey there,
All good!
Thanks for the info. Did it happen when on previous versions of Minecraft Education or only since 1.20?
Can you share the specs of the device? RAM, Processor, Storage, that sort of thing?
Thanks!

for specs I don't know how to do that and its only happened during 1.20

Hey there,
Here is a 3rd party video I found online on how to check your Chromebooks specs:

I would be interested in the RAM, Processor and Storage Space. It will be important to compare them to our min specs:

Hey there,
Sorry to hear you are running into some issues.
Can you both share the device Make / Model you are using?
Is it a school issued device?
Was it ever working prior?

It was always normal before and it's a school Chromebook the one with a touch screen which i think is a new-ish model.
As mentioned before this only happened during 1.20
I tried using it today but it lagged and like Mi'kyle Richerson when you go to the menu it refuses to load and that is what causes lag the most

Hey there,
Thanks for the info, could you provide the exact make and model please so we can look deeper and compare the device to our min specs? https://educommunity.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360047556591-System-Requirements
Thanks!

I don't know if this is it but maybe this may help too

Thanks for the info, but I would still need the make/model so we can compare to min specs.
Thanks!

Hi
It's been quite a while and I still need a solution, could you please respond as soon as you can?

Hey Jacob,
Thanks for sharing your device model. It looks like you do meet our minimum system requirements, but you may need to lower your gameplay settings to a minimum as well:
- Make these changes to the Video Settings for the hosted world:
-
- Turn off Fancy Leaves
- Turn off Render Clouds
- Turn off Beautiful Skies
- Turn off Smooth Lighting
- Turn off Fancy Graphics
- Decrease the Render Distance to 6
-
- Make sure there aren't any unnecessary apps running in the background while you play Minecraft Education

Thanks for the help!
Although this did improve performance, the issue happens everywhere. I'm in the menu, lag. I'm changing my skin, lag. The issue has gotten so bad it takes at least 5 minutes for Minecraft to just open. I used to have an older computer but it handled everything very well, it even opened instantly. I've tried many things but something I have noticed is that it happens to a lot of my friends too. This might be a bug so I will mess around with the settings to see if anything fixes. I would appreciate any further assistance though!
(it's not a network problem, I've checked with every network I could from school Wi-Fi to McDonald's Wi-Fi)
