I want to post bug reports 1.20.12 PC Windows 10 Desktop VS Store install.
Ok, finally, I've been trying to create a bug reports Post for two days now.
This is what I posted over in the teacher's lounge on facebook.
UPDATE Issues.
Minecraft Education has not updated on my son's computer. I believe it is set to auto update.
So I rebooted the computer.
didn't update
I had him sign into his Microsoft 365 for education account on his browser.
Then we rebooted again.
Now the shortcut to Minecraft Education is missing from the desktop AND Minecraft Education is missing from the windows start menu.
I had a little panic because we didn't back everything up since my understanding is the auto update shouldn't be destructive. However, I went searching and found the Minecraft Education com.mojang folder on his C drive and I've made a copy of it just in case.
How do we get it to update? We didn't uninstall it but it isn't in the add/remove programs list anymore and the download link now sends us to the Microsoft store (instead of letting us download the install file like we used to do) but we have never installed from there before.
I'm going to reboot again just in case the auto update will happen before I take the next step of going to the microsoft store.
So we did finally go ahead and install from the Microsoft Store.
But now none of his worlds are in game anymore. The com.mojang folder is still there and all his worlds are still in it. They just are no longer in game. How do we fix this?

I did get an answer over there. My issue is that I've always downloaded the Desktop app for PC from
https://education.minecraft.net/en-us/get-started/download I always used that first Big download button for Windows. Well this time it went to the Microsoft store instead of downloading the desktop app installer.
My not realizing that the Desktop app and the store version install into two different locations, gave me some major issues. Please don't change things like that without making some Major BOLD NOTICES that they are different as I spent hours trying to post about it and find info about it.
Here is the Link for downloading the Desktop APP. http:// https://aka.ms/downloadmee-desktopApp I'm not sure how people are supposed to recognize where (which link) to download it from on the web page posted above since nowhere does it say Desktop App or Windows Store on the links.
If you wound up installing the windows store version and are trying to figure out how to get your worlds moved over. I hope this gets posed in time to assist those who haven't already dealt with this sort of confusion.

Oh, P.S. If you wound up installing the store version and didn't fully uninstall the desktop version, neither of them will be able to log in.
I had to go and uninstall both of them before I was able to then reinstall the updated desktop app and be able to log in again.0
