    Hey there,

Sorry to hear you are running into some issues with codebuilder and Chromebook.

When you try to run the code, does it change from a green arrow to a red square then not do anything?

Can you send a screenshot if possible (without any personal data)?

Thank you for your quick response!

It does change into a red square. It goes as follows: I click the green triangle to run the code. The green triangle turns into a red square. Nothing happens; the code window remains up. Then I click out of the code window, open the chat, and type 'chicken', which should trigger the event. No chickens spawn.

When I enter the code window again (by pressing 'c'), I see a green triangle rather than a red square. This makes me think that perhaps the act of clicking out of the code window caused the code to stop running.

A photo just after clicking the green triangle is included below. The code window remains up, but the green triangle did turn into a red square.

I also did take a video of the whole process and posted a comment with a link to a separate message, which has not yet been approved (I assume the moderator does not like having an external link to a video).

    Hey there!

Yeah, we took a look at your previous post and the video as well, but chose to keep this post only to protect your privacy with the external link.

    Thanks for sharing the info!

We have seen this issue before, unfortunately it has been determined by our test team that this is a device spec issue with Chromebooks. The Celeron processors do not quite have enough power to run the code. If you can, I would recommend trying a different non-Chromebook device to see if you can replicate the issue.

    Thank you Danny!

To clarify, the machine does not have a Celeron processor. It is a Core i3 (11th gen; Tiger Lake, I believe?!) w/ 8GB of RAM. It meets or exceeds the minimum specs in link you sent. The game runs great - there's no slowdowns or anything to indicate that the hardware is struggling. Thus, I don't think our specific problem is related to the hardware.

Everything works fine on my Windows laptop. But my 9 year old would very much like to run this on her own machine, if possible. (I have offered an old Surface Pro 7, but she's turned me down).

Would it be possible to help me investigate further? I don't have much experience on chrome OS - so any suggestions on troubleshooting steps or any way to collect additional information that I could provide would be appreciated.

    Thanks again for your help!

I've played around a bit more, tweaked the app permissions, and uninstalled/ reinstalled from the Microsoft store. Something in this process worked! The chicken rain tutorial is currently working on my daughter's Chromebook. Thus my issue appears to have been solved, at least for the moment!

    Thank you for your help!

Hi people! I have this exact problem across 60 chromebooks in a school district. I've done app reinstall and chromebook powerwash with no luck. Trying to run chicken rain or any MakeCode project gets stuck when the green arrow button turns into a red stop button.

There aren't many app permissions to toggle...anyone have more advice along that front?

    Hey Cole,

Would you mind sharing the specs of your Chromebook so we can investigate this issue a bit?
We would just need to know what CPU, RAM amount, and the GPU your device is using.

Hi Ernie, we have three. I'll list them by age and power. Minecraft runs better on the more powerful 300e, but comfortably on all of them as far as just loading and playing the game.

    Hey Cole,

It looks like the issue here is that all 3 of those devices have processors that are below our system requirements.

You can try lowering the video settings, closing all other apps, and playing the game in a smaller window and see if that helps, but you will likely need to use different devices in order to use Codebuilder.
