Cake not working, Unit 2 Lesson B cannot be completed (+ a new song!)
Hi, I am using windows and playing Minecraft Education v 1.19.53.
I am following the curriculum here: Unit 2: Events | Minecraft Education
In lesson B students are asked to spawn 24 parrots when a cake is broken. I have tried On Cake broken, On item id 92 broken and on item id 354 broken, but none of these work. It does not seem possible to complete the activity in this lesson as it stands.
To work around I am using a hay bale and have modified the lyrics as follows:
Sing a song of sixpence,
A pocket full of rye.
Four and twenty blackbirds
wrapped in a bale.
When the bale was broken,
The birds began to sing.
Wasn't that a kooky thing
To set before the king?
I checked some other blocks... The emerald block works, but (for example) on TNT broken and on Daylight Sensor broken do not work.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I am having the same issue. The parrots will spawn when breaking any other item or block that we have tried (sand, wood, dirt, rose bush, oak sapling) but not cake. It doesn't matter if you break the cake or eat the whole cake, the parrots do not spawn. I am assuming this is a bug or issue with the way the cake block functions. Is that correct?

Hey there,
No unfortunately, they are aware of the issue and tracking it.
This issue appears to be related to the agents ability to detect the block in question in MakeCode, the cake is able to be inspected, and is able to be spawned through other commands, but when trying to detect the cake (and the sensor) it fails. It also fails when trying to "test for" which also might be what is causing the issue if the "placed" or "broken" commands use that for detection.
No ETA for a fix at this time.

Hello,
I just tried some other objects and they worked. The wood block or any other object worked when I broke it the parrots flew out. It is just the cake that doesn't work.
