All members are operators
End of school & trying to enjoy some minecraft with the students, but in every world we create, all members are operators. Why? For most students it's not an issue, but I have a few chaos makers who make the game not fun for anyone & wind up having to lock their computer, as I cannot kick any members either.
Tried having a student build a world & they, too, have the same issue. This is basically a game breaker.

You’ll have to ask IT to delete their accounts and start again. They were made with faculty users instead of student or no role.

Bryan Sanders - the only way I can find to assign roles is when I give either Faculty or Student licenses to an account. This is malleable, right? Is there another way? (I'm in the office admin settings.)
You are changing the settings in the shared world to be "permission level for players who join your world" as "member" I'm assuming? Richard Brumfield (I mean, I had to ask =] )

Richard Brumfield Debbie and Bryan are correct about the licensing. But it can be a little more complex because this depends on what types of licenses your school has. I'll open a ticket for you so the team can investigate your school licensing and provide recommendations about best next steps.

Something must have changed in the Admin portal because now I see the students that I did NOT give access to for general Microsoft faculty NOW show "Minecraft Education Faculty" -- is that a new status? It must be the same as what I had before with NO access to general Microsoft faculty licensing since the students are unable to become operators without me assigning it to them in Minecraft.

I'm sure some of this depends on HOW your organization purchased the licensing.
My understanding is that some one given a Microsoft Faculty license is automatically "operator" status in Minecraft.
I purchased licensing for my tenet through a 3rd party as I got onboard before the camps and clubs update so there had been no method to buy licenses for Minecraft education edition separately so I don't know how that administration works. All my Minecraft Licenses are tied into my A3 for education Tenet and I only have 1 faculty license and 40 student licenses available.0 -
Bryan Sanders we just finished the migration to the admin center so you will see some changes to this type of license. Because of the way the old system merged two different volume license types, there is going to be some confusion for a while. This article explains more: Role assignment of Volume Licenses after migration – Minecraft Education
The main thing to know is that today, the Minecraft Education Faculty license does NOT confer instructor status.
We're working on fixing this - there were some pretty complicated processes under the hood that allowed customers to use the Store for Education that we're still unwinding.

Ahhh, thanks!
